Assistant Attorney General Energy & Environment Bureau Environmental Protection Division Attorney General Maura Healey is looking for a highly motivated and experienced litigation attorney to join her team as an Assistant Attorney General in the Environmental Protection Division (EPD) of the Energy & Environment Bureau. Primary Duties: The Assistant Attorney General (AAG) will work independently and in teams to perform complex legal work, including serving as lead or co-counsel in climate, clean energy, and environmental protection litigation, and related investor and consumer protection litigation. This will include serving as trial counsel; conferring and negotiating with sophisticated opposing counsel; arguing orally in court; managing written discovery, including e-discovery; taking and defending depositions; working and managing relationships with fact witnesses and experts; assuming responsibility for drafting the full range of litigation pleadings and legal briefs; handling appeals; and conducting in-depth research and analysis and preparing legal memoranda. Applicants must be a member of the Massachusetts Bar with at least six to eight years of experience as a practicing attorney, including experience in trial and/or complex litigation. A proven history of a commitment to public service or public interest work is preferred.
