North Coast Seafoods Assistant Controller in Boston, Massachusetts
The Assistant Controller is a professional who aids in the formulation and compliance assurance of internal controls and provides support to accounting management. This individual must be a forward-thinking, career-oriented person. Responsible for a variety of duties, this professional is reliable, efficient, and extremely organized.
This position reports to the Controller.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage operational data and ensure data integrity and accuracy.
Provide labor analysis and job costing for three production facilities.
Provide technical system support throughout the company, as needed.
Manage and improve operational procedures, documenting data flow.
Help oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll, identifying discrepancies, and reconciling accounts.
Assist in month-end and year-end closings and preparation of all related financial reporting packages.
Prepare GL journal entries and reconciliations for designated accounts.
Assist with the development and evaluation or budgets; prepare budget reports.
Assist in building/improving ERP system and procedures.
Analyze business operations, trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and Manage system hardware and software applications; troubleshoot system issues as needed.
Perform other duties as required within the accounting department, assist with special projects as necessary.
BA in Finance, Accounting, or related field
8+ years, experience in accounting or finance, with increase in responsibility over time
Experience working in a manufacturing environment, preferred; food manufacturing, a plus.
Advance understanding of systems (NAV, Pivot Table, Excel, Power BI, Crystal Reports)
Experience overseeing payroll, working knowledge of ADP or similar systems, a plus.
Accounts Payable (AP) experience desired
Experience with cost accounting
Working knowledge of logistics and inventory software, preferred
Firm grasp of supply chain, inventory control, distribution, and management principles
Exceptional organizational and analytical skills
Able to manage priorities and complexities, strong multitasking skills.
Proactive thinker, exceptional logic reasoning and problem-solving skill set.
Must be able to lift 30-50 pounds.
Work up to a 10-hour workday: standing/walking most of the day.
Hand use: single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling.
Work requires the following motions: bending, twisting, squatting and reaching.
Exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals.
Exposure to temperatures: <32 degrees Fahrenheit (freezing), 30-32 degrees Fahrenheit (refrigerators)
Ability to work in wet and dry conditions.
