The 1,054-room Omni Boston Hotel at the Seaport is the newest luxury hotel in the City of Boston, and the most significant hotel project in the city for the last forty years. The property features seven outlets for drinking and dining, a signature spa, fitness center, and rooftop pool. It boasts more than 100,000 square feet of meeting and event space, and caters to the most discerning clientele.

Job Description

The Assistant Director of Revenue Management will assist to maximize overall hotel revenue and profitability for the hotel, driving market share to the property through strategic and in-depth evaluation and analysis of business mix, distribution channels and overall rate/inventory management in all market segments. The position attends weekly revenue management meetings, compiles / presents key statistics to leadership, offering insight into actions and recommendations to drive performance.

Responsibilities

• Managing and maintaining group and transient inventory controls, developing, monitoring, and adjusting sales and pricing strategies, analyze demand factors, forecasting, competitive analysis, and maintaining distribution channel data integrity.• Assist in establishing group ceiling targets and adjusting appropriately.• Assist with day by day, 12 month rolling forecast, weekly operational forecast• Analyze and provide feedback and action plans from information contained in the STAR report to help in protecting our future gaining market share.• Update and Analyze daily selling strategies• Attend daily Sales Business Review Meetings• Reviewing data, reports, market conditions and trends and evaluating / suggesting revenue management strategies, ensuring follow through as necessary• Analyzing / forecasting demand and ensuring effective selling strategies, oversell strategies and optimized market mix and use of distribution channels for overall hotel profitability• Monitoring all distribution channels to ensure effective rate and inventory management and pricing strategies• Evaluating hotel-level forecasts to ensure accuracy and proactive adjustment of strategy where needed to mitigate losses or maximize gains• Conducting displacement analyses to help DOSMs and GMs make the right revenue decisions when accepting business as needed• Participation in and contribution to monthly sales and revenue meetings with senior leadership and property teams, completing action plans for properties to follow to create additional production/revenue• Understanding and projecting market trends and position relative to competitors, ensuring hotels in the impacted areas are properly positioned• Compiling and disseminating key best practices uncovered through engagement with individual teams to swiftly lift the performance of hotel• Developing / maintaining an evaluation program to determine results from consolidated revenue management meeting decisions as well as various marketing, value-added and pricing programs to ensure they are delivering the expected contributions to RevPAR and profits• Produce required daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual reports as needed

• Participate in forecasting, budgeting, and the development of the annual marketing plan.

• Understand and identify brand pricing, promotional, marketing and eCommerce initiatives and recommendations that should be implemented not only for compliance but in order to maximize revenues.• Perform numerical analysis of data and formulate conclusions and solutions, relaying to constituents in a logical, well-organized manner• Adhere to all standard policies and procedures.• Perform all employee and guest activities in a cordial, efficient and professional manner, at all times maintaining a commitment to employee and guest satisfaction.• Develop a professional and on-going relationship with employees and guests. Discussion of internal matters of any sort with guests is not permitted.• Communicate thoroughly, clearly and concisely across departments and through levels within the company.• Promote an atmosphere of teamwork within the department.• Attend Omni required training classes.• Facilitate monthly department meetings.• Assist and Lead the GRC team and conduct associate performance reviews.• Oversee the scheduling process for your specific areas of responsibility.• Manage conflict resolution between employees and/or guests.• Ensure that the daily performance goals and responsibilities of the team are being met consistently, effectively and efficiently.• Consistent maintenance and refinement of service standards. Ensures compliance with applicable laws and regulations and union agreements.• Understands associates positions well enough to perform duties in associate’s absence.• Recruit and interview team members. Monitor and develop team members by training, supervising, follow up and hands on management. Hold associates accountable when not meeting job performance.• Assist in developing specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish set goals.• Utilizes interpersonal and communication skills to lead, influence and encourage others; advocates sound financial and business decision making.• Strives to improve associate engagement, onboarding, and retention.• Solicits associate feedback, reviews associate satisfaction results and follows up on associate problems and concerns. Ensure recognition is taking place throughout departments.• Maintain a professional, neat, and organized appearance according to Omni Boston Seaport standards.• Respond swiftly and effectively in any emergency or safety situations. Ensure a safe working and guest environment to reduce the risk of injury or accident.

Qualifications

• Position prefers a minimum of three years previous Revenue Management experience.• Preferably (3-5) years of hotel experience is required: Revenue, front office, sales, and/or reservations.

• Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent.• Department Head experience preferred.• Understands GDS and Internet systems.• Understands Revenue Management theory and practice.• Ability to perform critical analysis.• Comprehension of technical application of reservations system.• Understanding of hotel product and market conditions.• Must possess the ability to handle stressful daily operations.• Clear, concise written and verbal communication skills. Candidate must be comfortable speaking to guests and conducting meetings.• Must have a proven track record of motivating managers and associates to meet and exceed goals and to provide the highest quality experience for our guests.• Strong understanding of forecasting, budgeting, scheduling, inventory controls, P&L analysis.• Strong computer and technical skills to include on-line purchasing systems.• Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop growing talent for the company.• Demonstrated ability to handle progressive discipline/coaching discussions.• Proven ability to engage associates at all levels.• Demonstrated ability to work with other departmental leadership.• This individual must be willing to work flexible hours as needed during busy times, including nights, weekends and holidays.• Must meet standards of appearance and maintain a high level of personal hygiene at all time.• Candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and be able to handle multiple priorities.• Highly developed customer service skills; possessing a friendly approachable demeanor and strong problem-solving abilities, with a keen eye for detail.• Thorough knowledge of federal, state, and local laws governing equal employment opportunity and civil rights, occupational safety and health, wage and hour issues, and labor relations.
