The Boston Children’s Pediatric Physicians’ Organization (PPOC) is an independent physician association comprising more than 550 physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and integrated behavioral health providers who practice in over 100 locations across Massachusetts in partnership with Boston Children’s Hospital.

The PPOC Behavioral Health Integration Program (BHIP) is a strategic and collaborative effort to incorporate mental health services within the routine care provided to patients in pediatric primary care medical homes. BHIP addresses three foundational issues to create and support a more capable medical home team:

  • Integrating behavioral health providers (clinical psychologists, social workers, mental health counselors) in the medical home to provide assessment and brief evidence-based treatment for patients, and clinical consultation to pediatric practitioners and care coordinators.

  • Delivering education and skills training to improve the medical home team’s comfort and skill in managing behavioral health concerns.

  • Providing rapid response, case-focused consultative support from child psychiatrists and substance abuse and other sub-specialists (early childhood, autism spectrum).

We seek a dynamic and skilled Program Director who will shape and execute the PPOC Behavioral Health strategy within the pediatric primary care network. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership capabilities as well as expertise in integrated behavioral health and continuous quality improvement.

The Program Director reports to the PPOC Senior Director of Quality and Patient Safety and works in close collaboration with the PPOC Associate Medical Director for Behavioral Health and Chief Medical Officer. Together they lead the Behavioral Health Integration Program of the PPOC, developing and managing BHIP to support PPOC member practices in their efforts to achieve the quintuple aim of better health, better care, improved health equity, and provider well-being at lower cost.

Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree in Psychology

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in clinical psychology with specific experience in pediatric integrated behavioral health highly preferred.

  • Knowledge of evidence-based practices in behavioral health and expertise in program development and implementation.

  • Proven leadership skills with experience in managing teams and driving program goals.

  • Demonstrated expertise in continuous quality improvement methodologies.
