Description

Fenway Health is currently seeking a Bilingual (Spanish/English) Counselor & Advocate to join our Violence Recovery Program (VRP). The VRP provides counseling, support groups, advocacy, and referrals to survivors of domestic violence, sexual violence, hate violence, and police misconduct -- with a specialized focus on serving LGBTQIA+ survivors. Our team of Counselors is dedicated to providing client-centered support, ensuring that LGBTQ survivors are treated with sensitivity and respect, and raising awareness of how violence affects LGBTQ communities.

As a Bilingual Counselor & Advocate at Fenway Health, you will:

  • Provide direct services to clients in Spanish and English including consultations, individual counseling, assessments, and group facilitation

  • Advocate for client need with other providers and within the criminal justice system

  • Assist clients in accessing social services, legal support, and housing authorities

  • Collaborate with victim services agencies and community organizations in support of survivor rights

  • Engage in outreach and training for providers, community organizations, and professional organizations

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in social work, counseling, psychology or related field

  • Counseling/therapy experience

  • Fluency in Spanish and English

  • Ability to work harmoniously and effectively with colleagues, patients, clients and vendors across the spectrum of diversity, including but not limited to race, ethnicity, color, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, socio-economic status, national origin and immigrant status, religious or spiritual identity, disability (physical, mental, emotional and developmental), veteran status, and/or limited English proficiency.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of, commitment to, and experience working with LGBTQ community

  • Demonstrated knowledge of, commitment to, and/or experience addressing partner abuse/domestic violence, sexual violence, hate violence and police misconduct.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of, commitment to and experience working with marginalized populations and communities of color, particularly Black and Latinx communities

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking skills

  • Knowledge of the legal and criminal justice systems and experience with advocacy

Salary Description

$57,600 - $72,000 per year
