This Biorepository Operations Manager (Contract/Temp) will be responsible for:
Overseeing a robust institutional accessioning/processing/storage/distribution system and facility that will provide quality control, efficiency, long-term stability, and wide access to biospecimens.
Developing and managing policies/procedures/processes/protocols for biobanking and laboratory services for the clinical and research community
Assuring compliance with all ethical issues and regulatory and hospital policies, including the IRB, ethical handling of materials, and regulatory guidelines around the procurement, storage, and use of human samples.
Overseeing comprehensive informatic solutions to manage specimens and data
Overseeing finances, including developing and managing budget, establishing charges for any services to be offered, and direct strategies for cost recovery and sustainability
Managing all Biorepository staff. Responsible for staff management, including hiring, performance management, goal setting, salary administration and employee development.
Encouraging and facilitating inclusion of sample repositories currently residing across the institution.
Participating as an ex officio member of the Biobank Sample and Data Access Committee, which oversees policies and processes relating to access of Biorepository resources.
Participating in design and management of the PrecisionLink bioreporistory for health discovery: a nationally leading, institution-wide project consenting our patients for broad future uses of discarded blood and tissue specimens, including genotyping and automated phenotyping through the electronic health record.
Preparing laboratory for accreditation from the College of American Pathologists (CAP)
Evaluating and overseeing expansion of facilities and operations as biorepository inventory and usership increases.
To qualify, you must have:
A Bachelor’s Degree, generally in a life sciences field, and 5 plus years of experience in tissue banking management. Four or more years of full-time general laboratory training and experience of which at least two years were spent acquiring proficiency in biorepository operations and management preferred.
General knowledge of biorepositories, sample collection and processing.
Demonstrated leadership and communications skills.
A track record of strong attention to detail and organization.
Knowledge of federal and state statutes and guidelines related to tissue donation and storage
