Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts Business Analyst, Finance Systems in Boston, Massachusetts

Reporting to the Associate Director of Finance Systems, the Business Analyst will support Finance initiatives to ensure project timelines, performance goals and standards are met and expected business value is realized. Working collaboratively with internal and external organizations, the Business Analyst will provide IT focused business analytical and system implementation support. In addition, the Business Analyst will also provides some project management and production resolution support of key financial systems.

This position is eligible in the following personas: E-Worker, Mobile and Resident

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with business partners to ensure current state business process and future state business requirements are fully developed and documented.

  • Reviews solutioning/assessment activities, including reviewing technical and functional documentation.

  • Works closely with project managers to ensure projects are on schedule, on budget and meet business needs.

  • Develops and documents technical and functional requirements or user stories that translate business requirements associated with new and changing business capabilities into a technical solution.

  • Facilitates requirements walk-through or user story grooming for large, complex, enterprise-wide projects/enhancements.

  • Communicates business and/or process perspective during design reviews.

  • Intermediary between the business requirements and the technical resources to ensure technical design, development and testing meet the needs of the business.

  • Ensures traceability of business requirements through all stages of development, participates in review of testing strategy, plan, data and results.

  • Communicates technical integration decisions and plans to project team and business partners.

  • Develop a strong understanding of the business and technical aspects of financial applications.

  • Analyzes and troubleshoots production/system issues, identifies root causes and develops recommendations for improvement.

  • Ability to identify upstream and downstream impacts that system enhancements may have on system processing and business.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Demonstrates ability to follow through on multiple or complex tasks and issues.

  • Takes immediate action when confronted with a problem or when made aware of a situation.

  • Demonstrates advanced analysis and problem solving abilities.

  • Partners with other areas of the company to execute and implement divisional projects and strategies.

  • Excellent skills in working with cross-functional teams and resolving cross-departmental issues.

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Education:

  • BA or BS degree in Systems, IT, Business Management, or related degree preferred; or equivalent experience.

  • Minimum 5-8 years’ experience with IT systems in the healthcare payer space. Experience with Agile methodologies and financial backend systems preferred.

  • 2+ years as a business or systems analyst
