The Business Director - Perioperative Services and Operations reports to the Director, Perioperative Services. This position is responsible for the strategic planning and management of all non-clinical functions of Perioperative Services including Information Systems, Scheduling, CPD, Financial Management, Capital and Budget Process, Project Management, Materials support and supply management. In collaboration with the Perioperative Director, the Business Director will develop and track the operational and capital budgets for Perioperative Services.

Job Summary:

The Business Director - Perioperative Services and Operations reports to the Director, Perioperative Services. This position is responsible for the strategic planning and management of all non-clinical functions of Perioperative Services including Information Systems, Scheduling, CPD, Financial Management, Capital and Budget Process, Project Management, Materials support and supply management. In collaboration with the Perioperative Director, the Business Director will develop and track the operational and capital budgets tor Perioperative Services.

Primary Responsibilities:

Responsible for preparation and management of operational, capital budget and service contract budgets for Perioperative Services. Reports on monthly variances incorporating an explanation and action plan. Oversees the timely and accurate charging mechanisms for patient and interdepartmental revenue. Oversees and monitors the Patient Charge process. Works with contracting to negotiate with vendors for capital equipment, supplies and instrumentation for best pricing. Committee member of OR supply task force, OR supply steering committee, and resource management groups. Responsible for working with clinical and support staff to manage resources with perioperative services. Coordinates with Financial Analyst, System Analyst and OR Leadership and staff to manage resources. Works with Information Systems to develop, implement, and manage information systems for Perioperative Services scheduling, charging, documentation, and materials management. Oversees the Operating Room Supply Management functions. Directs the development, implementation, workflow, and operations of just in time delivery systems, procedure based delivery systems, OR Stores, and inventory management in the Perioperative Services. Promotes standardization and cost savings initiatives for supplies, instrumentation, equipment, and practice. Collaborates with the Director to manage new program development and renovations. Works with the Perioperative Director and Director of Contracting to create and manage the budget for all special projects.. Provides leadership and resource to the CPD Manager, Supply Clinical Advisor, Scheduling Clinical Advisor, Financial Analyst, System Analyst. Participates in development of key strategic goals, performance measures and leads operational redesign to meet goals. Collaborates with Leadership staff on the Education Committee, Practice Committee, and Process Improvement Committee to develop and implement orientation, mandatory education requirements, practice review, and process improvement with staff. Provides leadership coverage in Perioperative Services, delegate authority and responsibility as indicated. Develops performance improvement systems and monitors service quality, regulatory compliance, and timely and accurate service delivery. Operates within and exceed professional standards, licensing and accreditation requirements, including AAMI, ASHCSP, CDC, DPH, EPA, FDA, JCAHO, and OSHA and assures knowledge by staff.

Required Qualifications:

  1. Bachelors Degree Required

  2. 8-10 years related work experience required and 5-8 years supervisory/management experience required

Advanced skills with Microsoft applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access und other web-based applications. May produce complex documents, perform analysis and maintain databases.

Team Work: Ability to lead collaborative teams for larger projects or groups both internal and external to the Medical Center and across functional areas. Results have implications for the management and operations of multiple areas of the organization.

Customer Service : Ability to lead operational initiatives to meet or exceed customer service standards and expectations in assigned unit(s) and/or across multiple areas in a timely and respect full manner.

Physical Requirements:

Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally in carrying, lifting, pushing, pulling objects. Sitting most of the time, with walking and standing required only occasionally

This job requires frequent sitting, Power Grasping using one hand, Fine Manipulation using one hand, Keyboard use.
