This Child Life Specialist will be responsible for:
Joining our Child Life Department as it continues to expand with another innovative position.
Working in this new program with our psych/mental health boarder population, will collaborate with the inter-professional team to support and program for patients based on an in-patient unit.
Collaborating with fellow child life professionals across in-patient units also working with this population.
Participating in therapeutic activities and programs to meet patients' psychosocial and developmental needs, and facilitating adjustment to health care experiences.
Serving as member of multidisciplinary team.
Delegating work assignments to volunteers and participates in clinical training of student interns.
To qualify, you must have:
Bachelor's degree in Child Development, Child Life, or a closely related field with a concentration in child life.
600-hour Child Life internship under the supervision of a certified child life specialist.
General skills to resolve problems requiring the use of child development theory, professional child life principles, and experienced‑based knowledge.
Well-developed writing skills, and excellent communication skills including conflict resolution to effectively work as a team member.
Certification in Child Life Specialist required within 1 year of hire for all new hires.
