Over 12,000 homeless individuals are cared for by Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program each year. Job Summary:

BHCHP is seeking a talented Clinical Director to manage the clinical operations of the Stacy Kirkpatrick House (SKH).  SKH is a 20-patient respite facility serving as a temporary placement for medically complex individuals who are marginally housed or unhoused. The facility provides nursing, case management, behavioral health, and medical care within this transitional residential program. 

The Clinical Director has administrative responsibility for the daily clinical operations of Stacy Kirkpatrick House.  Responsibilities include providing direct patient care, administrative oversight of the delivery of patient care within established regulatory guidelines and professional practice standards.  In collaboration with the Site Director of Stacy Kirkpatrick House, the Clinical Director will provide direct patient care, on-site oversight and leadership of SKH clinical staff and registered nurses including, management of human, fiscal and other resources and maintenance of professional collaborative relationships.

Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week,  8:30am - 5pm and shared on-call responsibilities as required                                              

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct patient card and oversee clinical management of patients; supervision of SKH nursing staff in collaboration with respite leadership and the SKH Operations Director.

  • Oversee patient admissions, discharges, clinical quality metrics and quality improvement at SKH.

  • Collaborate with the SKH Operations Director in management of day-to-day clinical operations.

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory matters.

  • Work collaboratively with the medical respite multidisciplinary team to oversee and develop medical respite program goals, the annual plan and budget process and oversee the development and implementation of new clinical and grant programs. 

  • Evaluate the Stacy Kirkpatrick House program goals and objectives to determine that SKH meets the needs of its patients.

  • Oversee the referral and transfer of patients from the McInnis House to Stacy Kirkpatrick House in collaboration with the respite leadership team.

  • Participate in respite meetings at the direction of the Medical or Operations Director of the Barbara McInnis House.

  • Attend program-wide management team meetings.

  • Manage clinical personnel scheduling as needed.

  • Participate in hiring, onboarding and managing clinical staff at SKH.

  • Collaborate with the respite leadership team on model of care changes and innovation as needed.

    Qualifications and Experience:

    Required:

  • Masters degree in nursing or related field, or equivalent experience.

  • 5 years of experience working with underserved populations in some capacity.

  • Familiarity with operational best practices.

  • 5+ years or equivalent advanced practice nursing, ability to manage a panel of complex patients with offsite additional clinical support

  • Proven administrative and clinical management ability in a complex environment.

  • Demonstrated leadership skills including the ability to build productive teams and motivate individuals at all levels of an organization in the pursuit of common objectives.

  • Ability to travel to off-site locations.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, comfort managing nursing staff.

    Preferred:

  • Masters of Science degree in Nursing  or NP/PA

  • Licensed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.  Registered or eligible to be registered with the Massachusetts Department of Public Health and the Federal Drug Enforcement Agency.

  • Life support training certification (e.g. CPR, BLS, ACLS) from a course that includes a hands-on, in-person component. If not certified prior to start date, applicant must submit certification within 60 days of start date.

  • 1-3 years experience of progressive management positions, clinical management or clinical operations experience. People management skills preferred.

    Basic Knowledge/Skills:

  • Interpersonal and communication skills sufficient to provide effective leadership for assigned staff and to interact effectively with patients, physicians, and health team members required.

  • Computer proficiency inclusive of the ability to access, enter, and interpret computerized data/information required.

  • Solid organization skills with attention to detail. Able to work in a fast-paced team environment.

  • Flexible work attitude.  Able to be flexible and yet focused and reliable in an environment of frequently changing demands.

  • NOW OFFERING A $4,000 SIGN ON BONUS

  • The compensation starts at $105,000 - $136,500 and increases based on years of experience.

  • BHCHP full time employees are eligible for our competitive time off policy of 4 weeks’ vacation, health, dental and vision insurance, 403B retirement savings plan and employer retirement contribution, and pre-tax MBTA pass program with 40% discount. In addition, eligible employees will receive yearly increases, additional compensation of seven thousand five hundred dollars added to your base hiring rate for demonstrated bilingual proficiency and the opportunity to work with local hospitals and community health centers.
