68615BRJob Posting Title:Clinical Research Assistant IDepartment:NeurologyAutoReqId:68615BRStatus:Full-TimeStandard Hours per Week:40 Job Posting Category:ResearchJob Posting Description:The Neurology Department is seeking a Clinical Research Assistant to assist with research involving human subjects conducted by the Epilepsy Genetics Program (Poduri Laboratory). The Clinical Research Assistant will work under the supervision of a Clinical Research Program Manager, a Senior Genetic Counseling Program Manager and the Principal Investigator (a pediatric neurologist/epileptologist).

Duties will include recruiting study participants from Neurology clinics and other departments, other health institutions, and from the community. The Clinical Research Assistant will obtain informed consent, coordinate collection of biological samples for DNA analysis, serve as a liaison with laboratory and clinical personnel, and maintain research study databases. Duties also include scheduling research visits, maintaining positive relationships with research participants, ensuring compliance with Good Clinical Practices, and other related research duties as needed. Responsibilities also include implementing and analyzing the effectiveness of recruitment methods.

The Clinical Research Assistant will be expected to become knowledgeable about pediatric and adult seizure disorders and the genetics of epilepsy, including proficiency in characterizing seizure types and symptoms.


  • Bachelor’s degree is required and a scientific background is preferred

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, required

  • Completion of at least one genetics undergrad course a must!

  • Highly motivated and independent

  • Prior clinical research experience preferred

  • Strong organizational skills, interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Proficiency in REDCap is highly desired

  • Ability to work collaboratively

  • Must be able to relate to and communicate with patients and families

  • A 2-year commitment is strongly desired
