VMware Competitive Intelligence Technical Analyst - Security Business Unit - Opportunity for Working Remotely in Boston, Massachusetts
We are looking for a passionate, driven, self-motivated Technical Competitive Intelligence Analyst to join the VMware/Carbon Black Product Marketing team.
This role requires a deep level of technical knowledge in the cybersecurity space – across endpoint, workload, and Kubernetes security. We need someone who can “read between the lines” and decipher competitor messaging and data sheets to provide the most critical differentiation points. You will serve as the deep subject matter expert on specific competitors in endpoint security space and be the go-to source for our pre-sales, customer success, product, marketing, partner, and sales teams arming them with insights on how to outmaneuver our competition and change the conversation towards VMware/Carbon Black’s current product offering strengths and abilities. You should be a self-starter and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment on multiple simultaneous projects.
Develop internal tools (such as battlecards,deep product analysis, competitive responses, etc.) with a view toward improving sales effectiveness
Evaluate competitor data sheets and marketing collateral to provide competitive differentiation of VMware/Carbon Black and select competitors
Create presentations that focus on differentiators that are clearly articulated with supporting data, fact-based analysis, and a point of view
Create and drive focused sales enablement sessions for the sales and customer success teams and participate in business review meetings and deal reviews as required
Brief product teams on competitor technologies and update marketing teams about competitive messaging and positioning issues
What you bring:
3+ years related experience in a technical marketing, technical sales (e.g. sales engineering) or technical competitive intelligence role.
Cybersecurity related experience
Experience with sales enablement and competitive intelligence training; skilled in objection handling and designing “trap/turnaround” questions, and “reading between the lines” to determine key competitor gaps
Skilled in obtaining public information beyond what is posted on the company’s website and at reading and interpreting analyst reports, including “quadrant” and “wave” style rankings
Excellent writing& speakingability, including the ability to communicate technical concepts and support the marketing team in writing clear and compelling copyand presenting compelling content.
Engineering, Computer Science degree, or similar experience.
Familiaritywith various competitive intelligence methodologies(i.e.SCIP’s Code of Ethics).
Knowledge of competitive tools like Crayon or Klue
