Lincoln National Corporation seeks a Consultant, Valuation Assumptions & Analysis in Boston, MA to perform complex actuarial analysis to develop valuation assumptions and make recommendations to management about reserves strategy for all Group Protection insurance products. Assess experience, source of earnings analysis, reserve adequacy, and forward-looking drivers to develop assumption update recommendations for GAAP and STAT reserves, including communication of experience trends and drivers to Sr. Management. Assist in the development of Life and Short-Term Disability (STD) Source of Earnings (SOE) models in back-end coding in Dataiku and front-end summary interface in Tableau. Assist in development and implementation of key Long-Term Disability (LTD) SOE refinements, including incurred loss ratio and Return on Equity (ROE) functionality for premium funding source; automated roadmap of in-period material drivers; standardized summary reporting packages (PPT) for financial reporting analysis/communication and Claims Management targeted opportunities. Assist in the development and finalization/optimization of annual assumption updates (primarily LTD) by integrating results from SOE and Adequacy studies. Contribute to the execution of adequacy studies including runout analysis, reserve adequacy studies including dashboard development, and related controls. Perform and optimize quarterly retrospective runout margin processes – including identifying and assessing drivers of any significant variances and weighing against anticipated internal and external trends and communicate and document findings to Sr. Management. Develop best estimate scenarios for key assumptions (Recovery, Mortality, SSDI offsets and discount rates) based on A/E tools, and overall aggregate assumptions for optimistic and pessimistic scenarios for applicable GP LOBs in the prospective adequacy study (RAS). Develop and lead rollout to Sr. Management, of recurring reserve adequacy dashboard, integrating retrospective and prospective margin analysis results (current period, YoY, model rollforward). Participate in the development of new and upgrading the quality of existing actuarial projection and A/E tools to leverage into experience tracking and assumption setting. Develop and/or upgrade experience enablers (ex. LTD Reopen A/E, LTD Pending EA & A/E tools) with front-end functionality being Tableau based. Develop materials to be used in and help lead implementation presentation to key stakeholders. Develop replicating seriatim claim LTD reserve projection model in SAS to be leveraged in assumption testing. Assist in the development of regulatory requirements and other external requirements such as new FASB Long Duration Targeted Improvements (LDTI) and partner with Reserving and Modeling team to implement. Serve as a resource to junior team members and internal/external stakeholders on more complex assignments/projects, providing consultations and analysis support.

Requirements: Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related quantitative field, and 3 years of experience performing actuarial analysis. 3 years of experience must include: (i) using MS Excel to manipulate, scrub, and analyze large datasets; (ii) writing code in SAS, SQL, or R in an actuarial analysis setting; and (iii) using MS Access, VBA, or SQL to run queries and extract and organize data for actuarial analysis from large databases. Work Arrangement:

Hybrid/Home : Employees will work from home generally three days each week and come into a Lincoln office on a schedule their manager will help set, following any applicable in-office training period determined by their manager.
