MUST HAVE WEEKEND AVAILABILITY FOR MONTH END CLOSINGS JOB SUMMARY Under the direction of Corporate Director of Finance, the incumbent is responsible for ensuring that all, accounting functions and controls are accurate, timely and comply with all Westmont Policies and Procedures. Work with Hotel Management to facilitate achievement of hotel budget objectives for total sales, profitability and return on investment, while maintaining company standards. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Monitor compliance with hotel and accounting policies and procedures, legal requirements and contractual obligations (including obligations under a management agreement) utilizing internal controls, auditing and security procedures to ensure deviations are brought to the attention of the Corporate Director of Finance to protect the hotel\'s assets. Monitors and maintains all accounting functions within the hotel including; revenue, accounts receivable and payable, payroll, inventory systems, contractual agreements and cash processing activities as specified, in Westmont Policies and Procedures. Supervising the accounts payable function to ensure invoices are accurately recorded and amounts payable are paid on a timely basis. Developing and maintaining sound purchasing and receiving procedures that ensure goods and services ordered are properly approved and that payments made to vendors are only for products or services received. Accounting for expenditures and disbursements within the scope of budgetary cost control processes and company policy. Administer all tax filing and government reporting procedures to ensure accurate, timely information is provided in compliance with laws and regulations. Produce complete, accurate, timely and meaningful periodical data/reports to hotel management and corporate office in accordance with company reporting requirements and policies. Keep tight internal controls within all hotel operations and perform continuous evaluation of such for any improvement. Assist and coordinate, in conjunction with the General Manager and other department heads, in preparing the annual budget, forecasts and other recurring financial reporting requirements of the hotel. Assist Management in achieving the Hotels goals and guests satisfaction. Be an active participant and contributor as a member of the hotel leadership team. Work closely with the Corporate Office and the Hotel Management on implementing Westmont Policies and Procedures. To seek, identify and implement throughout the hotel best practices that will serve to enhance revenues, guest service and improve cost and productivity efficiencies. Adheres to all duties and other responsibilities as assigned by Corporate Director of Finance and/or General Manager. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS A degree/diploma in accounting/finance along with a minimum of five (5) years of relevant accounting experience in the hotel industry along with three (3) years of supervisory experience. A strong accounting knowledge to handle a complete accounting cycle in a centralized environment. Strong leadership skills with the ability to direct/motivate department to meet and exceed goals. Requires managerial skills as position involves frequent decisions, meeting of deadline, negotiations of contracts of vendors, analytical ability and the planning, organization development and coordination of large scale work projects. Must have excellent business communication skills. Strong time management skills needed. Well organized and excellent attention to detail. Ability to adjust to changes. Ability to read and communicate verbally and in writing and prepare complex occupancy reports. Computer literate in MS Word, Excel. Knowledge of local, regional, provincial and federal laws and regulations (including tax regulations). Experience implementing and maintaining effective purchasing processes. Experience with budget and forecasting processes
