Position Summary:

The Cybersecurity Engineer, Cloud will secure Cengage Group's infrastructure against insider and outsider threats. Working with the Cybersecurity Manager, they will build, develop, and deploy systems to investigate and hunt for suspicious activity. We are looking for diligent and curious people to be a part of our Cybersecurity team! You will be responsible for supporting the build of a cloud security program. You will also be analyzing and defending Cengage’s application, network, server, and end user environment in a multitude of situations. Concentrating on securing the Cengage Cloud environment, you will work with members of the CloudOps team to find and fix potential bugs, vulnerabilities, and misconfigurations in the cloud environment. This role for the Compliance & Security team protects Cengage’s customers, employees, brand, and data.

What you'll do here:

  • Deploys and maintains large-scale enterprise level security services

  • Leads projects from requirements gatherings and scope to implementation and rollout

  • Define and implement appropriate policies for AWS security solutions

  • Work closely with the DevOps to provide guidance on vulnerabilities in the Cengage cloud environment

  • Review security controls and configuration requirements (e.g., network design, database access, security testing, authentication methods, implementation of encryption, privilege management, logging, input validation, etc.)

  • Track security violations and identify trends or exposures that could be addressed by additional training, technical measures, or use of application tools to improve security

  • Develop, implement, and handle security auditing, monitoring, and response

  • Develop consistent methods for reporting overall security status and security maturity of our cloud platforms, and our cloud operations.

  • Evaluate the security of any third party or natively provided cloud tools and services

  • Partner with, train, and empower peers in the Development and DevOps teams

  • Assists on making key decisions to drive the technical direction

  • Identifies and makes plans to address areas for process improvement

  • Participates and collaborates cross-functionally with groups

  • Engages and manages relationships with vendors

  • Participates in an on-call rotation

Performance Metrics:

  • Closure time/rate for security defects

  • Ability to integrate security tools

  • Performance of network assessments

  • Overall advancement of our cloud security posture and maturity.

Skills you will need here:

  • 3+ years of experience in cybersecurity engineering

  • Outstanding knowledge of AWS and Cloud security tools (Divvy, Lacework, etc.)

  • Knowledge of information security principles and technologies

  • Demonstrated experience with deploying and supporting a range of security capabilities to mitigate enterprise risks

  • Ability to automate processes when possible

  • Ability to identify sophisticated problems and develop appropriate solutions

  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills

  • Ability to work on multiple concurrent projects and activities

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail

  • Ability to work multi-functionally and collaboratively

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems Management, or similar.

  • Cybersecurity Certifications a plus

  • AWS Certifications a plus

  • Experience with information security best practices and security frameworks.

  • Experience with current cyber threats and tactics used to infiltrate computer networks

  • Experience with network intrusion detection and response operations

  • Strong background in networking
