Boston University DATA ANALYST II, Information Services & Technology, Administrative Systems in BOSTON, Massachusetts

Boston University Information Services & Technology (IS&T) is seeking applicants with diverse skills and experiences to join our innovative and inclusive community. You will join as an Data Analyst II where you will support critical data migration efforts within Research Administration. You will also will play a key role in migrating data from legacy systems to a new platform and perform ongoing data analysis and reporting to support research administration functions. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with strong data management and reporting skills who is eager to contribute to the universitys innovative research initiatives.. As part of the Research Administration, you will report to Applications Director. This position has hybrid/remote scheduling options.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Data Migration and Transformation: Execute data migration from legacy Research Administration systems to new platforms, including data mapping and executing ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes. Ensure data quality and integrity throughout the migration process.

  • Data Analysis and Reporting: Perform detailed data analysis to support decision-making within Research Administration and create comprehensive reports for key stakeholders using tools such as SQL, Power BI, or Microsoft SSRS.

  • Relational and No-SQL Database Management: Utilize expertise in relational databases such as Oracle, MySQL, MS SQL, and No-SQL databases. Develop and manage complex stored procedures, views, and other database objects to support data migration and reporting needs.

  • Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with business analysts, system architects, and technical staff to ensure data migration aligns with the functional and reporting needs of the new platform.

  • Ensure Data Quality: Implement procedures to maintain data accuracy and resolve any discrepancies in data or reports.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.

  • 3-5 years of experience in data migration, analysis, or a related role.

  • Experience with relational databases like Oracle, MySQL, MS SQL, as well as No-SQL databases.

  • Proficiency in developing complex stored procedures, views, and other database objects. Experience with SQL, Tableau, Power BI, Microsoft SSRS, or similar reporting tools.

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

  • Experience with Research Administration systems or other higher education enterprise systems.

  • Familiarity with data governance processes and ensuring data integrity.

  • Strong understanding of data migration best practices and methodologies.

  • Experience with enterprise reporting tools and working in cross-functional teams.
