Organizations large and small are investing in low code as the accelerator for their digital transformation ambitions. Power Apps is a strategic growth area for Microsoft, but more importantly, it is a disruptor technology that is changing careers of ‘citizen developers’, making pro-developers far more productive and helping IT finally innovate at the pace that their businesses expect.

In this role, you’ll be at the intersection of data science and core business metrics, and will draw actionable insights on how we continue to grow the Power Apps business at a rapid pace. This role requires strong analytical skills, willingness to take risks and fail fast, and a healthy dose of product sense. You’ll work with data scientists, PMs, engineers, marketing, research, and business planning to advance the adoption and growth of Power Apps. As a Principal Data Analytics Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for managing and growing our team of Data Scientists and Engineers. You will be accountable for the intake and prioritization process for analytical needs, be the “voice” of data science in stakeholder forums; up-level data-informed storytelling across Power Apps, partnering with multiple teams across business analytics, engineering and marketing organizations. You will also serve as a business DRI for delivery of committed data science related priorities.



  • Manage, coach and mentor a team of experienced Data Scientists and Engineers to formulate, design and create analytical projects

  • Work closely with stakeholders (engineering and business leadership) to deeply understand the business problems and to prioritize, formulate, and action against business opportunities

  • Work with stakeholders to build models for business growth such as forecasting and anomaly detection

  • Collaborate closely with data scientists and data engineers to provide best in class data-driven, actionable insights

  • Provide technical mentorship (present/defend results) to guide data science solutions for a diverse set of business problems enabling learning while driving business impact.

  • Support analytics design decisions by taking relevant inputs from business team and defining clear plan for analytics team; push analytics teams to confirm assumptions, extract relevant insights and to interpret the models and outputs

  • Provide guidance to the team and vendors to successfully complete projects. Guidance may include – Scoping business questions, data mining, statistical models, customer segmentation, pricing analytics and presentation of insights

  • Lead communication of analytics outputs with stakeholders; acts as bridge between management and data scientists; Shares insights with business stakeholders and collects input

  • Continuously learn about the industry trends and up-level organizational knowledge in data science field

  • Articulate project goals, deliverables and timelines for dashboards and data infrastructure

  • Lead and develop an awesome team of Power Apps Data Scientists and Engineers, retain and attract great talent. Contribute to an inclusive work environment where every employee can effectively engage and wants to be part of the team


Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of relevant experience in data science and experience leading a high-performing team of data scientists and Engineers

  • 5+ years demonstrating leadership working with cross functional teams to deliver complex projects.

  • Experience working on Big Data and ML technologies – Azure ML, Cosmos/Hadoop, Databricks, R, Python, SQL, SAS, Teradata

  • Ability to communicate quantitative analysis in a clear, precise, and actionable manner to technical/non-technical audience.

  • Strong cross-group collaboration skills and ability to influence diverse audiences

  • Understanding of data exploration techniques, analytics, storytelling with data and statistical software packages

  • Excellent problem solving, planning and execution skills.

  • Methodical, detail oriented with experience diving deep and asking the right questions

  • Ability to understand and discuss analysis, distill them for a broader audience, and clearly articulate key insights to leadership

Preferred Qualifications

  • BS or higher in Data Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or another quant-focused field or 7+ years of industry experience

  • Unique mix of technical, analytical, strategic, and leadership skills

  • Able to understand and translate business and product questions into data insights

  • Strong background in cloud and enterprise services or applications

  • Proficient in advanced Excel functions (e.g., creating formulas, pivot tables) and Power BI

  • Self-motivated, agile, and driven to think out-of-the-box

  • Strong willingness to learn new hard and soft skills, and develop new professional capability

  • Strong communicator with experience in working with senior management
