What success looks like?

  • Implement solutions to improve our data security posture utilizing ‘best-in-class’ technologies and frameworks

  • Serve as main point of contact for Data Purpose and Protection to assess MassMutual’s Data Risk posture, and limit known vulnerabilities and areas of exploitation

  • Lead assessments to determine alignment with our standards, compensating controls, residual risk and exceptions required

  • Demonstrated passion and talent for aligning security architecture, plans, controls, processes, policies and procedures with security standards and operational goals

  • Serve as a liaison with other key stakeholders, including Enterprise Cyber Security, Enterprise Architecture, Infrastructure and Enterprise Risk Management

  • Define approach and methodology to expand the program in a systematic way, having a Governance-first mindset

  • Effectively manage a group of data professionals with a variety of functional and technical tasks

  • Innovation: Continually look within and beyond their job, anticipating business needs and opportunities

What your days and weeks will include.

  • Lead the support function to deploy and maintain tools owned by the Data Purpose and Protection team, mainly related to:

  • Encryption & Key Management

  • Data De-identification

  • Data Discovery, Classification, Tagging and Labelling

  • Thought leadership regarding current and future Data Protection technologies, while working with our internal customers to enhance the protection capabilities of those tools

  • Lead strategy to better utilize current toolset available at MassMutual

  • Educate the workforce on the operationalization of processes led by Data Purpose and Protection

  • Define and drive the implementation of KPIs to show progress related to implementation, usage of the tools, and link to overall risk reduction

  • Agile as a core value: adapt and thrive in complex, uncertain and changing situations.

Qualifications.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in information technology or associated discipline preferred

  • 15+ years of experience in data protection and information security

  • Hands on experience with end-to-end lifecycle for data protection security tools including implementation, upgrades, performance, design of operational processes, etc.

  • Proven record defining solutions to mitigate Data Risk within different technologies

  • Knowledge and experience with Encryption and Key Management solutions, Data Classification

  • Good understanding of Governance and Control requirements in complex developments and deployments

  • Deep experience in relationships across the 3 Lines of Defense

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to problem solve with little to no supervision

Preferred qualifications.

  • Familiarity with the applicability of privacy regulations and information security industry standards

  • Good understanding of data classification standards and inherent risks

  • Experience defining processes for troubleshooting

  • Cloud certifications: AWS Certified Solution Architect, AWS Certified Data Analytics, AWS Certified Security, or similar

  • Expertise with representative tools and platforms: AWS, Azure / O365, Microsoft E5, Vertica, BigID, Varonis, Voltage, Vormetric, Informatica TDM, Alation, Microstrategy

  • Looks for and finds ways to improve operations
