Facebook Data Scientist, Analytics - Emerging Business in Boston, Massachusetts

Facebook’s Emerging Business’s mission is to enable Creators and Businesses to deliver exceptional content and unique delightful experiences via Facebook, with the financial support of their audience. We basically encourage great partners to bring their magic onto Facebook, and users directly reward them for it. Our portfolio of products today includes: Paid Online Events (pay-gated synchronous experiences), Stars (lightweight gamified tipping), Subscriptions (monthly recurring support), and News Monetization (subscriber account linking and soon-to-be Project).In this role, you will work across all Emerging Business products to formulate a ranking and promotion strategy to accelerate the growth of both creators and users. You’ll work with research, product management, and engineering counterparts to understand the biggest problems today, communicate meaningful recommendations to leadership, and integrate improvements into product. The ideal candidate will have experience and passion for both ML and product work. Additionally, you have demonstrated strong product leadership to tackle ambiguous questions and uncover the recommendations to drive the product roadmap by delivering solid analyses.

Required Skills:

  1. Apply your expertise in quantitative analysis, data mining, and the presentation of data to see beyond the numbers and understand how our users and Public Figures interact with our products

  2. Define problems and opportunities in a complex or ambiguous area

  3. Inform, influence, support, and execute our product decisions and product launches

  4. Partner with Product, Engineering, and Research teams beyond your immediate team to improve current ranking and promotion implementation

  5. Monitor key product metrics, understanding root causes of changes in metrics

  6. Influence product teams through presentation of data-based recommendations, and clearly communicating state of business, experiment results, etc. to product teams

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Bachelors/Masters Degree with 4+ years (or PhD with 2+ years) of experience working within an analytical role

  2. Experience solving analytical problems using quantitative approaches

  3. Experience in SQL, Python, R or other programming languages

  4. Understanding of statistics (e.g., hypothesis testing, statistical inference, regressions, ML systems)

  5. Experience communicating the results of analyses with product and leadership teams to influence the strategy of the product

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. 7+ years of experience working in an analytics organization

  2. Experience in ranking

  3. Experience building and training statistical models

  4. Experience designing and evaluating complex experiments

  5. Experience working in growth and marketing
