Boston University DENTAL ASSISTANT, ENDODONTICS, School of Dental Medicine, Endodontics in BOSTON, Massachusetts
Under the general supervision of the Practice Manager and Clinical Supervisor, the Dental Assistant is responsible to provide quality care and excellent customer service. This includes: performing 4-handed chair side assisting, preparation & maintenance of dental instruments, and instrument transfers. Taking appropriate diagnostic quality digital x-rays as well.
Vocational/Technical Degree required and 2 years or more of periodontal dental assisting experience
Provide clinical support by assisting the dentist in intra-oral and extra-oral photographs, various Endodontic procedures, exposing radiographs of diagnostic quality, preparing instruments and materials for needed for surgical procedures, suctioning and retracting during surgical procedures ensuring optimal patient comfort
This includes ensuring assigned operatories are cleaned and disinfected between each patient being seen by the dentist and set up for the next procedure and that instruments are prepared for sterilization according to established protocol.
Demonstrates customer service skills by educating patients as needed, reviewing schedules, ensuring each assigned operatory is set-up and ready prior to seeing each patient
Collect patient data by reviewing medical history, taking blood pressure, pulse, and charting clinical findings as directed by the dentist
Additional duties may include maintaining an inventory of supplies to avoid shortage, restocking cabinets and providing coverage during evening clinic hours
Practice and adhere to infection control guidelines and OSHA and HIPAA regulations during and after such said procedures
