Position Overview:

In this position you will report directly to the Senior Vice President of Sales and will be responsible for leading the End-to-End management of the assigned division and account managers in the Northeast to drive profitable sales. In addition, you will be accountable for working with sales leadership and other cross functional partners to develop, align, and drive the strategies and goals for the channel that match those of the organization.This includes but is not limited to sales, contribution, and market share goals that will need to be met while staying within assigned expense and channel budget to maximize return on investment of expenses.

To be successful in this role, we'll need you to have an expert understanding of P/L leadership. You'll also be responsible for building, presenting, and executing a holistic plan for assigned channel including merchandising, advertising, display, pricing, and training activities. This role is accountable for ensuring channel forecasting is being delivered at an extremely high level of accuracy in collaboration with supply chain partners & account leads. This individual will also act as the face of SSB to the external partner(s), while also being a leader within the organization.

This position can be located in New England, Upstate NY, NJ, Maryland, Virginia or Pennsylvania. You should already reside in this area as relocation is not being offered.

What You'll Do:

Merchandising : Accountable for working with direct reports and their assigned account(s) decision maker(s) to develop a merchandising strategy that provides SSB the greatest opportunity to drive profitable growth and share at the account. Additionally, responsible for working with direct reports to refine said strategy as needed to meet the needs of both the retailer and SSB. Significant cross functional work will be required to gain internal strategy alignment.

Advertising : Accountable for working with direct reports to ensure assigned account(s) are not only participating in SSB national events, but also advertising said events to maximize SSBs volume, profitability, and share of voice during said times. Responsible for ensuring direct reports are working directly with the retailer’s buyer and marketing team (and internal cross-functional partners as needed) on marketing calendar, national promotions, and dealer specific promotions. DVP also needs to ensure co-op is being spent on SSB marketing with retailer substantiation.

Display : Accountable for ensuring that direct reports are working with their retailers with the goal that SSB products have preferred placements, ensure samples meet top quality standards, and have the proper POP material to ensure the customer is getting the best in-store experience on SSB products. Responsible for setting the expectation with direct reports that they’re inspecting all price cards accurately reflect the current market price (on MSRP/MAP products) and that non-map products are competitively priced at retail. In addition, ensuring that all pricing is updated with the most current promotion (as applicable).

Pricing: Accountable for ensuring that direct reports are deploying SSB pricing programs to assigned account(s). Responsible for partnering with direct report on cross-functional strategic pricing actions and contract negotiations (as needed) to drive maximum profitability for SSB, while ensuring SSB has competitive retail pricing at assigned account(s).

Training : Accountable for ensuring that direct reports are working with assigned account(s) to properly train on SSB products and that training materials to assigned specific product assortment are readily available (including the use of sleepsells platform) ensuring retail sales associates know more about SSB products than other vendors on the floor.

We'll need you to have STRONG proficiency in these areas:

Story Telling/Product Training/Presentation Development - Ability to seamless integrate dealer selling process into SSB product FBAs driving mutually beneficial results across all presentation platforms

Brands, Product & Category Knowledge – Knowledge of our category, including consumer behaviors specific to the category. Knowledge of our brands and those of our competition, brand dynamics and the management of the portfolio of products and brands.

Experience/Education

  • Bachelor's Degree minimum required.

  • 15+ years of overall experience W/ 7+ years of furniture/mattress experience preferred

  • 7+ years of people management experience

  • Experience in managing multiple accounts with a total book of business $100m + Experience in sales training

  • Consistently proven ability to drive results … need to demonstrate ability to drive results in a resource/system limited environment
