    Position summary:This is a remote travel role located in the New England Area. This role will require 60% travel. The EHS Manager Role is a management position responsible for the overall EHS program supporting the Northeast/Midwest regions of the US market.

    This position will provide support to the EHS management team in the US, support the development of an effective EHS framework and co-ordinate the implementation of Primark's Safe Today Safe Tomorrow’s vision and mission and Primark Cares strategy across the Retail region.

    Reports to:EHS Country Manager US

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Support the country EHS agenda and the evolution of an effective and efficient EHS management system for the US market in line with the Safe Today Safe Tomorrow vision and mission and Primark Cares Strategy.

    • Develop initiatives to work towards delivering a best-in-class EHS Compliance and EHS performance including full compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements.

    • To develop the knowledge, ownership and responsibility of the Senior and Store operational management teams for EHS, through ensuring the legal understanding of EHS is in adherence with Global standards.

    • Partner with EHS Country Manager to keep abreast of proposed and actual changes in legislation and advice and to alert such changes to the relevant teams on areas that will impact on the business.

    • Provide technical advice on all relevant environmental health and safety issues to retail and support services.

    • Identify where poor practice is in evidence by colleagues, contractors, or other particular business units, that may demand additional training or the provision of information to improve performance.

    • Drive forward, undertake, or advise on workplace risk assessments and reviews in accordance with legislation or upon amended Primark policy, determining appropriate action and priorities.

    • Advise on training needs for the business area in line with regulatory requirements, business needs or poor performance.

    • Regular monitoring of health and safety conditions in the workplace and ensuring compliance with binding legal rules in this respect. At least once a year prepare an analysis of health and safety conditions in the company that require support and focus for FM partners.

    Relationships:

    • Build relations with regulatory and government bodies as well as industry bodies.

    • Develop key relationships with Retail Store Management, Area Managers, P&C, Store Development, FM, Learning & Development, Retail teams, and Legal teams.

    • Work closely and support all other central functions as required on minimum EHS Standards; P&C, Store Development, FM, Learning & Development and Legal teams.

    Legislation:

    • Ensure legislation is monitored for possible application to company practices. Keep Senior management informed and develop programs to address regulations and ensure legal compliance.

    • Work with EHS Country Manager to update the Legal Register.

    • Develop knowledge requirements on workers compensation requirements for area and market.

    • Have a thorough and detailed working knowledge of relevant local state, OSHA legislation and guidance.

    • Produce and update policy proposals and procedural amendments as required due to new practice or changes in legislation, best practice, or legal advice.

    • Ensure new store build design teams incorporates any EHS observations, standards and learnings that are noted from EHS, so standards remain consistent from state by state during expansion growth.

    EHS Culture:

    • Develop and drive initiatives to influence a culture of behavioral safety across the region and to lead by example to ensure that EHS becomes an integral part of everyone's everyday business.

    • Network and establish ways and means of competitors or other industries that use methods to engage colleagues

    Audits Inspections and investigations:

    • Conduct EHS inspections and audits against defined workplace standards and activities in designated locations to evaluate our performance.

    • Respond to critical and high-level EHS issues in a timely and authoritative manner to protect our employees, customers, stakeholders and reduce business exposure, keeping EHS Management informed

    • To undertake root cause analysis accident / incident investigations and support other team members to do the same and undertake investigations in a timely manner.

    • Ensure findings from investigation requiring action and lessons learnt are communicated effectively to the business / relevant stakeholders.

    • Advise on training needs for the business in line with regulatory requirements, EHS performance and business needs whilst considering costs and return on investment.

    • Analyze the results of EHS audits; make regular reports to Senior management and the retail teams and communicate initiatives to drive sustainable EHS performance improvements.

    • Carry out health & safety inspections as required by legislation, Primark company policy, identifying potential hazards and recommending appropriate remedial action where required.

    Education Required/Preferred:

    Required: Bachelor’s Degree – Safety Management, Environmental Safety, or similar field.

    • ASP or CSP certification preferred.

    • Excellent knowledge of conducting OSHA investigations and required deadlines of complaints.

    • Working knowledge of Safety Management software.

    • Working knowledge of Business Continuity planning and exercising.

    Essential Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

    • Have a thorough and detailed working knowledge of relevant current federal and state EHS legislation and advice.

    • Have 5+ years’ experience in Environmental Health and Safety.

    • Retail or Fast-Moving Consumable Goods experience is a plus.

    • Thorough knowledge of, and ability to advise upon, environmental, health & safety matters, risk management and legislation, with substantial demonstrable experience of personal involvement in the management of EHS within a diverse fast paced work environment.

    • Evidence of strong interpersonal skills to establish credibility with colleagues and senior management and to foster effective working relations with a wide range of senior internal and external contacts.

    • Results orientated with a strong focus on the delivery of objectives, including an ability to provide creative and innovative solutions based on a sound understanding of business requirements.
