    Position summary:This is an EHS support role based primarily in Boston, MA. It will focus on supporting the US business. This role will require 20% travel.

    This position will provide support to the EHS management team in the US, independently drafting environmental regulatory correspondence and monitoring compliance metrics for all Primark facilities.

    Reports to:EHS Country Manager US

    Key Responsibilities:

  • Independently drafting environmental regulatory correspondence and monitoring compliance metrics for all Primark facilities.

  • Assisting in the development and implementation of environmental and health & safety compliance programs for all Primark facilities.

  • Interact with business partners to ensure all EHS retail needs are achieved, as well as assist in the research of regulatory requirements and initiate steps to determine applicability.

  • Assist the Country Manager in managing the internal task management filings for all regulatory required actions and injury investigations and will have an in-depth knowledge of major federal and state environmental regulations.

  • Monitor regulatory notices, participate in program enhancements with all EHS OPS Leads, and manage all OSHA regulatory reporting utilizing the Sentry Insurance platform.

  • Escalate issues to the Country Manager as needed (including regulatory response strategies).

  • Routinely support environmental programs by providing field assistance to all Primark facilities and field colleagues.

    Relationships:

  • Build relations with regulatory and government bodies as well as industry bodies.

  • Develop key relationships with Retail Store Management, Area Managers, P&C, Store Development, FM, Learning & Development, Retail teams, and Legal teams.

  • Work closely and support all other central functions as required on minimum EHS Standards; P&C, Store Development, FM, Learning & Development and Legal teams.

    Legislation:

  • Ensure legislation is monitored for possible application to company practices. Keep Senior management informed and develop programs to address regulations and ensure legal compliance.

  • Work with EHS Country Manager to update the Legal Register.

  • Develop knowledge requirements on workers compensation requirements for area and market.

  • Have a thorough and detailed working knowledge of relevant local state, OSHA legislation and guidance.

  • Produce and update policy proposals and procedural amendments as required due to new practice or changes in legislation, best practice, or legal advice.

    Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree – Safety Management, Environmental Safety, or similar field, or equivalent experience

  • ASP or CSP certification preferred.

  • Excellent knowledge of conducting OSHA investigations and required deadlines of complaints.

  • Working knowledge of Safety Management software.

    Essential Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • Have a thorough and detailed working knowledge of relevant current federal and state EHS legislation and advice.

  • Have 3+ years’ experience in Environmental Health and Safety.

  • Retail or Fast-Moving Consumable Goods experience is a plus.

  • Thorough knowledge of, and ability to advise upon, environmental, health & safety matters, risk management and legislation, with substantial demonstrable experience of personal involvement in the management of EHS within a diverse fast paced work environment.

  • Evidence of strong interpersonal skills to establish credibility with colleagues and senior management and to foster effective working relations with a wide range of senior internal and external contacts.

  • Results orientated with a strong focus on the delivery of objectives, including an ability to provide creative and innovative solutions based on a sound understanding of business requirements.
