Job Description:

The ESG data landscape is rapidly changing, with new data becoming available every day – from existing providers, new providers, internal sources and open source. ESG exposure and impact reporting are becoming table stakes in wealth management, as they are essential for both client acquisition and retention. In addition demand for custom scenarios (e.g. institutional portfolio construction), client consultation and the need for tool development to enable client and advisor access to ESG insights are growing rapidly

Bank of America is committed to leadership in Sustainable and Impact Investing. Our Chief Investment Office is expanding its ESG data analytics capabilities to support multiple use cases. This is a unique opportunity to support the development of metrics for use across client and advisor tools, diligence of sustainable strategies. As part of the Chief Investment Office, the Data Analyst will provide be responsible for evaluation of metrics and other data across multiple 3rd party data providers. As new ESG data points and sources become available, they will evaluate and recommend integration points and use cases. They will be a resource to field support on advisor and client questions, and to portfolio construction.

Core responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Data analysis for client sustainable diagnostic and reporting capability

  • Analysis of data sources, datasets and metrics, for incorporation in to proprietary methodology and diagnostic tools

  • Analysis of data inputs and development of future tool integration (e.g. advisor tool integration / Portfolio Construction)

  • Providing subject matter expertise for client materials, including presentations and reports, as well as answering advisor and client ESG data questions

  • Serving as a cross line of business representative with regards to ESG data development, consistency and use cases

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate has an analytical mindset; an entrepreneurial, collaborative disposition; and a commitment to advancing social and environmental outcomes. Desired qualifications and experience level include:

  • 3-5+ years' relateable analytical experience

  • Experience or educational credentials with focus on sustainability data broadly and ESG metrics, understanding how sustainability metrics are calculated, how underlying data is gathered, which data points are relevant in various contexts

  • Experience working closely with ESG datasets and/or providers, preference give to those who have conducted ESG investment analysis using relevant data and frameworks, or have deep knowledge of ESG reporting convention and emerging standards gained in an audit and reporting capacity.

  • Experience working with relational databases and querying using SQL.

  • Coding and programmatic experience including, but not limited to R and Python..

  • Data manipulation experience including the use of ETL (extract/transfer/load) software such as Trifacta, Alteryx or Informatica.

  • Understanding of statistics and numerical methods, including general linear models and forecasting techniques. Understanding of common machine learning and related data science methodologies.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written)

  • Bachelor's degree required; master's degree in relevant field a plus though not require

  • Preference for experience working with a number of ESG data providers such as MSCI, Sustainalytics, Refinitiv, Arabesque, etc.

Enterprise Job Code Summary: Conducts primary manager due diligence; both initial and ongoing on mutual fund and separate account vehicles. Primary responsibility includes maintaining the integrity of Domestic Equity, Fixed Income or International Equity investment manager rosters.
