Boston Public Schools Graduation Coach [Road to Success] SY24-25 in Boston, Massachusetts

Road to Success at Charlestown High School (formerly Diploma Plus) is an alternative education program within Charlestown High School. It exists to support students with earning a high school diploma, developing a positive self identity and creating plans for after graduation. The program is structured for students to complete in two years. Students have the opportunity to work at their own pace. We are a competency and project based learning community with a Restorative Justice Lens. We focus on three core values: Ubuntu, self awareness, and critical consciousness. RTS is seeking a Graduation Coach to oversee student attendance, behavior, and academic progress. This role will serve as a resource for students in our alternative education program. Specific position responsibilities are as follows: Attendance- The Graduation Coach will closely monitor student attendance and create interventions to increase student attendance. Prevention strategies will be used to create a safe learning environment, where students are seen, heard, and celebrated. The Graduation Coach will lead Attendance Team meetings, manage the interventions in Panorama, and report attendance data on an ongoing basis. Behavior- This role also includes providing direct restorative services to RTS students and families. Conduct student/family conferences and circles. Provide immediate student support as needed, support opportunities for student leadership & engagement. Manage the application of the Code of Conduct to ensure due process & student safety. Overall, build a strong culture based on principles of restorative justice, racial justice and anti-racism. This role will also support RTS and divide whole school supports such as lunch, hallway, and/or morning checks. Academic Support- In collaboration with teachers, the Graduation Coach progress monitors student credit completion. This role requires high participation in Student Support meetings. Additionally, the Graduation Coach will manage Edmentum, the online learning platform. This includes monitoring the classroom if a credit recovery block is offered, running reports of usage, and making intervention plans to help students complete their courses. Contact students during the summer to participate in credit recovery, returning to school, communicate summer graduation information, and create a plan for the fall (if applicable). Collaboration- Works closely with RTS staff to create multiple tiers of intervention. Refer students for support services with the Student Development Counselor as well as community based supports. Assist Student Development Counselor to support students through the re-engagement to school, introduction to the program, and path to graduation. Work with staff, students and families of incoming students to ensure effective transitionEnsure that students stay on track with attendance, behavior, and classes. In addition to the responsibilities outlined above, the Graduation Coach is expected to engage in student support meetings, analyze data, communicate with families, support student activities, participate in PD (program school wide as directed), support with class coverage, and other duties as assigned. Required: Bachelor’s Degree (copy of transcript required). Belief in educational options. Commitment to cultural, ethnic and linguistic diversity as an element in a complete education. Ability to take on responsibilities and prioritize quickly. Ability to work within flexible working hours. Ability to work within a complex school system. Excellent communication skills Preferred: Fluency in languages in addition to English. Experience in progress monitoring, data tracking Post graduate degree in a relevant discipline 3-5 years experience in urban setting Familiarity with Boston and Boston Public Schools This is a full-year, full-time position, 223 days. This student support position may require evenings.
