Boston Public Schools Head of Student Culture and Climate (Managerial Tier C)(Anticipated Vacancy) (SY24-25) in Boston, Massachusetts

This position is an anticipated vacancy. It is expected to be vacant However, the current incumbent has a right to rescind their retirement, leave, or resignation up until the day of the expected vacancy date. Your hire will not be confirmed until the position is vacated, and you may start the year as a Long-Term Substitute if the position does not become vacant by the start of the school year. Job Title: Head of Student Culture and Climate The HSCC is responsible for the overall positive and productive culture of MPTVHS. The HSCC will supervise the implementation of the school-wide support and community outreach programs. The HSCC creates, develops programs, surveys, and strategies with the leadership team’s guidance that will establish partnerships and collaborations with community agencies, corporate organizations and families; and sees that programs and strategies are implemented by the Community Field Coordinators, school counselors, social workers, and security para to best support all student (CFC). The HSCC will maintain a high level of professionalism, responsibility, consistency, and respect at all times. Reports to: Head of School Responsibilities: Supervise the implementation of the school-wide support and community outreach programs. Supervise all community field coordinators. Create and develop programs and strategies that establish partnerships and collaborations with community agencies, corporate organizations and families. Establish a school-wide protocol for teacher support with students. Create an in school suspension referral intake form to be completed by teachers. Create an in school suspension out take form to be completed by Dir. S.C.C. for teachers. Create an in school suspension classroom to support student removed from classrooms. Provide administration with monthly data of the in school suspension classroom. Ensure appropriate supervision for all students in the in school suspension classroom. Develop and maintain in school suspension classroom protocols to allow students to reset and prepare them to re-enter his/her next class. Determine whether students should be assigned to in school suspension classroom for the remainder of the day, return to his/her next class, or he/she will be suspended out of school. Create and maintain a parent and family communication log. Develop and implement a system to engage parents and families. Organize and run family meetings focused on behavior issues. Coordinate events to support and help a positive school culture. Create and analyze climate surveys for both students and teachers. QUALIFICATIONS - REQUIRED: Current authorization to work in the United States - Candidates must have such authorization by their first day of employment Bachelor’s degree At least 2-3 years experience managing adolescent programs and data collection At least 3 years experience in urban school system working with a diverse ethnic student body Demonstrated passion for and commitment to the Schools mission, core values and educational model Commitment to the success of all students Flexible and able to multi-task; can work within an ambiguous, fast-moving environment, while also driving toward clarity and solutions Demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities and guiding investment in people and systems Willingness to work autonomously, collaboratively, and/or under the direction of senior staff, as needed Strong written and oral communication skills Proficiency with Microsoft Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and Google Drive Suite Comfort and familiarity with student information databases (Aspen, SIS, etc) TERMS: Managerial Tier C Please refer to www.bostonpublicschools.org/ohc (under "Employee Benefits and Policies") for more information on salary and compensation. Salaries are listed by Unions and Grade/Step. NOTE: School-based managerial employees will work 223 days between July 1st and June 30th each year. The 223 day work-year will include the 180 days in which school is in session, and the additional days will be determined by the employee and the principal or headmaster of the school. This position subject to the City of Boston residency requirement. School-based managerial employees are not eligible for vacation time or compensatory time. In the event of school cancellation due to snow or inclement weather, school-based managerial employees need not report to work.
