Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts Health Engagement Strategist in Boston, Massachusetts

This position is the primary external face of BCBSMA’s Health Engagement Sales Organization. Utilizing a firm understanding of the team’s strategy and capabilities, an in depth knowledge of the health care industry, business acumen, and strong client relationship skills, the Health Engagement Strategist plays a critical role in the successful planning, implementation and evaluation of health engagement programming for accounts and market segments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Independently provides leadership to external constituents (e.g., accounts, brokers, consultants) in support of effective health engagement programming across all available channels in collaboration with internal partners (e.g., Health & Medical Management).

  • Employs knowledge, skills and sensitivity to the cultural and demographic diversity of a population to design and implement meaningful and effective health management strategies and tactics most likely to yield achievable results.

  • Utilizes all available population data and cultural characteristics of each client to expertly advise stakeholders regarding opportunities to reduce modifiable health risks through BCBSMA’s health engagement initiatives.

  • Uses strong analytic skills and knowledge of industry norms and best practices to set realistic expectations and achievable goals for program impact, interpret and communicate outcomes, and assess future opportunities.

  • Provides consultative solutions-based selling, skillfully steers clients to BCBSMA’s existing health engagement offerings and development of operationally sound programs while ensuring client satisfaction.

  • Based on client experiences and industry knowledge, take a systematic approach to making recommendations for scalable program enhancements.

  • Develops and delivers high-quality presentations to internal and external audiences as needed.

  • Actively and expertly represents department strategy and capabilities on cross-functional teams or at key account, broker and consultant meetings.

  • Supports responses to RFP and RFI requests to competitively position BCBSMA health engagement programs and services, as needed.

  • Proactively keeps up-to-date on current trends relevant to the health engagement, well-being and other applicable areas.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, presentation)

  • Experience with relationship management or sales, including demonstrated consultative solutions based selling

  • Demonstrated ability to skillfully navigate difficult situations directly and diplomatically create an optimal outcome

  • Flexible and adaptable team player with the ability to work independently within our department’s strategic framework

  • Strong organizational and problem solving skills with the ability to coordinate and manage complex projects

  • Expert in utilizing PCs, Word, Excel and PowerPoint database software

Education/Relevant Experience:

  • BS/BA degree in relevant field. Masters degree preferred.

  • At least 5 years experience in health promotion, consulting, or a related field.

  • Background in health promotion/health care related field.
