Dana-Farber Cancer Institute Immigration Specialist in Boston, Massachusetts

Reporting to the HR Immigration Manager, the Immigration Specialist acts as the alternate Responsible Officer for the J1 Exchange Visitor Program and assists Immigration Manager with operations and delivery of other non-immigrant visas as needed, with an emphasis on the Student population

  • Process all form I-983’s for students changing from OPT to STEM

  • Acts as Alternate Responsible Officer for the J1 Exchange Visitor Program, having authority to issue DS2019 forms for initial entry, extensions and travel

  • Works with outside Immigration Attorney to process form I-140, G28 and employment letters for green card applicants

  • Provides employment and travel letters for immigration purposes as needed

  • Conduct Terra Dotta/People Soft audits

  • Assists with all operations of delivery of all immigration related services for the Institute in compliance with federal immigration laws and regulations.

  • Provide counsel and advice to departmental representatives regarding the policies and procedures that must be taken to sponsor foreign nationals, so they may enter the US.

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business, industrial relations or a related field is preferred.

  • 2 years of general office experience required

  • Familiarity/experience with Immigration Law a plus

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Strong communications skills both written and oral. Must have the ability to deliver clear and succinct messages.

  • Ability to multi-task and maintain efficiency and quality in a dynamic environment that often has multiple and competing priorities.

  • Demonstrated strong time management and project management skills and continuous attention to detail.

  • Superior customer service orientation.

  • History of taking initiative on process improvement and operational efficiency.
