Commonwealth Care Alliance instED Virtual Medical Control Physician in Boston, Massachusetts
Why This Role is Important to Us:
The instED Virtual Medical Control Physician is a specially-trained physician that provides remote monitoring and clinical direction in support of high-quality, convenient, and cost-effective advanced urgent care within the home in order to prevent avoidable Emergency Department utilization.
This is a part time position.
6-12 hour shifts, 12pm-12am / minimum commitment of 4-6 shifts per month.
What You'll Be Doing:
Provide patient-centered, high-quality care to individuals with complex medical needs
Provide on-demand medical direction based on clinical protocols to deliver high quality urgent/acute care in the home
Work closely with Paramedicine clinicians and teams
Collaborate with Emergency Department providers to facilitate discharge treatment plans as part of ED2Home program
Provide clinical duties based on developed clinical protocols and evidence-based clinical decision making
Participate in quarterly performance reviews and review related metrics
Participate in monthly Case Conferences, based on schedule availability, to improve clinical practice
Provide clinical and operational feedback to team members to improve care delivery
Collaborate with Care Partners and Primary Care Providers
Document visit within the EMR in a complete, accurate, and timely manner
Attend onboarding, training, and review required education
Protect patient confidentiality
Provide clinical care to members via telehealth technologies (video, chat, etc.) for a clinically appropriate clinical care and care management services.
What We're Looking For:
Required:
Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, or Emergency Medicine MD/DO
Current licensure in Massachusetts
Current MA Controlled Substance Registration and DEA registration
Current CPR and BLS Certification
Required:
Proficient/experienced in urgent care and inpatient medicine
Innovative, team-player, and expert communicator
Proven track record of providing high-quality patient care
Experience working collaboratively as a team-player
Required:
Willingness to learn best practice in delivering home-based care
Excited and comfortable with remote care delivery model and technology (i.e. telemedicine)
Ability to virtually/remotely assess medically complex patients
Ability to provide person-centered, medically and clinically appropriate care options to patients
Ability to work in a team-based care delivery model
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Willing to learn and utilize telehealth technologies (video, chat, etc.), when appropriate, for a variety of clinical care and care management services.
