Institute for Healthcare Improvement Instructional Designer in Boston, Massachusetts

Reporting to the Lead, Education Design and Development, the Instructional Designer serves as an integral member of the Education Design and Development team. Their role, working along with SMEs, is to create immersive learning using adult learning methodology. The Instructional Designer will be responsible for creating content using IHI\'s branding and design standards. Course development will be a combination of online, hybrid, and in-person courses with a focus on a virtual first approach in alignment with IHI\'s strategy. Position Responsibilities: Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: Instructional Design Gather requirements, analyze, define scope, design, and develop dynamic learning experiences that enhance retention and transfer of knowledge, including asynchronous, blended, virtual synchronous, and in-person experiences. Collaborate and build relationships with subject matter experts to identify target audience\'s learning needs and outcomes Design and develop sound supplementary instructional materials, such as PDF documents, graphic elements, videos (Camtasia, Vyond, and editing of Live Action). Manage timelines, expectations, and deliverables with internal stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle Perform quality assurance, including accessibility testing to meet WCAG AA standards and implement changes Build robust interactive and immersive learning experiences that may include branching scenarios, immersive learning activities, application exercises, etc. Create visual course elements that are aesthetically pleasing (content layout, images, color palette, font) and follow sound visual design principles. Adhere to course maintenance schedules for new builds, revamps, and refreshes to include: KPIs, timelines, milestones, and interactions Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies to enhance instructional design approaches LMS Collaborate with LMS specialist on all LMS matters Adhere to all guidelines for course creation (shell and all content) within the LMS Follow standards for LMS course layouts including discussion boards, bulletin boards, quizzing, weekly content, conferencing, and cohort collaboration Position Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Deep expertise and application of adult learning theory and instructional design models and processes Extensive experience in creating online courses in Articulate Products, creating PPT slides for live classes, and creating facilitation guides for faculty and students. Graphic design experience using tools such as Canva and Adobe Creative Suite. Adept at writing video scripts, course descriptions, technical information, etc. Project management skills, including organization and communication and ability to drive timelines forward Excellent interpersonal communication skills, ability to work well in a team environment and be transparent about project progress? Ability to adapt to changing needs and priorities Ability to work cross functionally across multiple disciplines within the company Ability to understand and embed cultural diversity considerations into learning design Ability to work independently and manage self towards goals, while being a genuine team player. Commitment to equity, anti-racism, and the improvement of societal systems Position Qualifications: Required Bachelor\'s degree or equivalent work experience 3-5 years corporate instructional design experience that includes: Serving as the instructional designer for in-person and online courses/classes using Articulate products Working with SMEs to manage scope during content creation Working alongside peers in a team environment Creation of graphics that support learning Technical Experience: Articulate Suite - Specifically RISE Canva (creating of infographics)
