Shift/Work Hours: The core hours of operation shall be from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM or 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM local time.

Job Description: Support Desktop Imaging and Deployment

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Integrate new and modify major physical/virtual desktop images to create a baseline for deployment to Agency’s physical/virtual workstations, and to ensure compliance with DoD Secure Host Baseline (SHB) mandates and proper operation of applications, software, and IT systems.

  • A major image release is defined as any release identified by Agency, for major SHB releases generally provided annually by Agency.

  • Minor releases to the SHB will be determined by Agency. Maintain and update the existing standard workstation image process for all models of current and future Agency desktop computers, Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI), tablets and laptops.

  • Provide an updated standard image for all workstations (desktops, VDI, tablets and laptops) that are Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) compliant.

  • The operating system version on the image shall be the latest approved version of the Microsoft desktop operating system.

  • When a new Microsoft desktop operating system is released, a new standard image must be developed for this new operating system.

  • Provide an updated physical standard image at least annually but not more than quarterly that incorporates previous patches, updates, and software versions.

  • Provide an updated virtual standard image at least annually but not more than quarterly, that incorporates all patches, updates and software versions.

  • In collaboration with the IT Operations Infrastructure O&M group’s VMware and cloud team, sustain the infrastructure and applications used to deploy standard images to field office locations.

  • The Agency IT currently uses Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM) and System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) to deploy workstation images to distribution points (servers) in the organizations field offices.

  • The person shall install, configure, and administer the MECM and SCCM applications and its supporting virtual and hardware components.

  • Create, document, validate, implement, test and coordinate backup and restoration procedures.

  • Ensure when troubleshooting, to provide detailed instructions on troubleshooting and resolving issues.

  • After core business hours, update all the existing virtual desktops as needed with a current updated/patched Microsoft desktop operating system image approved software application version/patches, hardware drivers and/or other registry/system changes.

  • Document each image release to maintain inventory of all software installation IAW change management procedures, to include vendor name, product name & version.

  • Standard image documentation shall be uploaded to The Agency’s central repository.

  • Provide summary report of all changes made to all desktop images.

  • For physical machines, maintain one version of SHB standard images in MECM, SCCM, and distribution points.

  • For VDI, maintain one versions of image that stored as templates in VMware Virtual Center.

  • VDI image bundles operating system with application packages, driver packages, toolkit, security patches, custom settings, etc.

  • Develop Image Release Test Plan, which will be provided to the testing center prior to release to the Production Environment.

  • Provide written technical specifications for end-user computing devices projected for use by the organization.

  • Review workstation vendor first article delivery of physical end-user equipment against technical specifications and provide in depth analysis and recommendation reports to the COR regarding product compatibility.

  • End-User Computing Device Technology Specifications and Recommendation Reports shall be completed and provided to the Government upon assignment.

    Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma plus one year of experience in a related field

  • Must possess at least one of the below Certifications

  • CCNA Security

  • CySA

    • GICSP
  • GSEC

  • Security

    • CND
  • SSCP

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree

  • VMware, Cloud, Linux or Microsoft Certification

  • A+ Certification or equivalent

  • HDI-SCA Certification
