The Brattle Group Knowledge Services Specialist in Boston, Massachusetts

The Brattle Group, a privately held, global economics consulting firm, is looking for a Knowledge Services Specialist to join our Boston, MA office. This position is responsible for collaborating with the Library & Knowledge Services team. Primary responsibilities encompass knowledge management, reference and research, document and data licensing and collection management. This position requires someone with an innate sense of curiosity, critical thinking skills, attention to detail and the confidence to add value in a fast-paced environment.

Some of the day-to-day responsibilities of this role include:

  • Manage Brattle’s Project Information Database (Sage)

  • Collaborate with CRM manager with regards to data quality of Brattle’s internal information systems

  • Participate in the acquisition, access, maintenance, and preservation of Library managed information resources in all formats. Responsibilities include:

  • Cataloging and processing new materials, monitoring the online catalog to ensure content is up to date, and ensuring catalog access methods meet user needs

  • Assisting the Manager of Knowledge Services in acquiring required content (articles, texts, subscriptions, etc.) by collecting pricing and terms of use

  • Assisting with the rollout of new resources by coordinating technical implementation with IT and managing user access

  • Maintain and troubleshoot Brattle Library online systems and licensed products in coordination with IT to ensure ongoing access

  • Collaborate with IT to maintain search experience and functionality of Library’s SharePoint presence

  • Maintain Brattle authored content in Library catalog

  • Direct staff members to, and assist them with, the utilization of appropriate Brattle Library resources and tools

  • Utilize litigation, financial and industry sources to respond to project and business develop data and information needs

  • Ensure Brattle work products are copyright compliant by analyzing terms of use for source materials and contacting rights’ holders when needed

  • Work on consultancy project teams as needed (time is billed to the project)

THE CANDIDATE

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; advanced degree preferred (MLIS, MBA, JD)

  • One to four years in an information management setting, either a library or other research and content management environment; Law firm experience a plus

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook (or similar software packages) required

  • Proficiency in content management and collaboration applications (SharePoint)

  • Familiarity with data sources including Bloomberg, CapIQ, Bloomberg Law, Factiva, LexisNexis, Lex Machina, LSEG Workspace, PitchBook, Courtlink

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced office environment by prioritizing multiple tasks and competing deadlines

  • Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively

  • Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail

  • Can maintain strict confidentiality and exercise appropriate level of judgment

  • Takes pride in working within a high-quality, high-integrity organization

  • Requires physical activity including some bending and lifting up to twenty (20) pounds.

  • Occasional overtime and travel may be required

Brattle offers a competitive benefits package, base salary, and bonus program for eligible roles based on individual and firm performance. The anticipated base gross salary range for this position in Boston, MA is $64,000 - $81,000 annually. Actual salary will depend on a variety of factors, including experience and training.
