Serco Lead Planner in Boston, Massachusetts

Serco supports the Navy as prime for their Amphibious Warfare Program Office Professional Support Services contract. The Boston Planning Yard team supports the Landing Craft Division in the maintenance of the Landing Craft Air Cushion (LCAC), the configuration and engineering management of the new Landing Craft Utility (LCU) 1700, and the new Ship to Shore Connector (SSC). In this role you will lead the Planning Team in the scheduling, coordinating, ordering of parts, obtaining vendor quotes, and all aspects of availability (maintenance) planning for the craft.
The team is led by a Program Manager with decades of experience working in the DoD and Shipbuilding Industry. This position is contingent upon your ability to obtain and maintain a DoD SECRET level clearance.
You will lead a stellar 6-person Planning Team that works closely with the customer in delivering quality products and services to the fleet.
In this role you will:
Act as a liaison between Serco Planning Group and Government customer.
Assign LCAC advanced planning maintenance availabilities for individual LCACs programmed for each Fiscal Year.
Prepare LCAC and SSC availability work specifications for Program Office.
Provide Independent Government Estimates for work specifications.
Provide estimate and availability of material to support specific availability.
Oversee work accomplished by sub-contractor planners and estimators.
Coordinate and schedule monthly pre-Availability Planning Matrix (APM) and final Availability Planning Matrix teleconferences.
Attend and participate in weekly status meetings with Government customer.
Attend and participate in monthly planning meeting teleconferences.
Prepare preliminary work specification for entry into IDE database.
Assign work items to appropriate planner for work specification preparation.
Assist in aligning work within various departments of the Serco Boston Planning Yard.
Contact on-site representatives (OSRs) for clarification of scope of work item.
Provide accurate material estimate and delivery dates for both Government Furnished Material and Contractor Furnished Material.
Coordinate and conduct on-site Pre-Overhaul Test and Inspection (POT&I) for all LCAC availabilities.
Verify that all repair work identified in Pre-Overhaul Test and Inspection (POT&I) report is included accurately and completely in work specifications.
Assemble final work specification package and provide solicitation DVD to the customer.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
To be successful in this role you will have:
A Bachelor`s degree and 5-7 years of experience. In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for more than 15 years of applicable work experience.
Must be able to obtain and maintain an Active DoD Security Clearance upon employment.
Experience writing maintenance work packages for maritime vessels is desired.
Experience conducting inspections on maritime vessels is desired
Knowledge of maritime terminology is required.
Reading and interpreting drawings and blueprints is required.
An understanding of drawings and components of maritime construction is strongly desired.
Recent use and proficiency of MS Excel and other MS programs such as Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
Strong customer service and communication skills are required.
Can travel up to 10% of the year to support in availability planning and inspections.
