As a Senior Member of Technical Staff on the Developer Productivity and Experiences team, you will be the driving force behind improving the efficiency of Tableau’s engineers who will use your tools and platform to build the next generation of Tableau products.

You will join a team of highly collaborative and passionate people that build and manage workflow and source code management applications and infrastructure. We are passionate about building reliable services from unreliable components, so that Tableau developers can build products for our customers without tools and infrastructure getting in the way. We are on a journey to build the most user-friendly and intuitive workflow and source code management experience for Tableau developers by using IaC (infrastructure as code), SRE, API integration, HA, DR, and Blue/Green deployments.

Responsibilities:

  • Implement and maintain highly available, scalable and secure infrastructure and tools such as Perforce, TFS, ReviewBoard and SourceGraph for the enterprise-wide workflow and source code management services.

  • Deliver workflow and engineering systems and services that are intuitive, fast, scalable, reliable, and secure.

  • Lead the effort in ensuring reliability and uptime of the platform (especially around HA/DR).

  • Create intuitive engineering experiences, integrate tools, and automate workflows that enables Tableau engineers and improves productivity.

  • Build tools and automation to standardize code hygiene, code review compliance and static code analysis.

  • Create API and ETL to provide insights into the work flow and code services data.

  • Ability to support and build production deployments across the entire platform using automation and CI/CD principles.

  • Adopt best practices and champion an engineering culture emphasizing Agile and DevOps.

  • Support the team’s engineering excellence by performing design and code reviews and mentoring junior team members.

Desirable Skills :

  • Demonstrated 6+ years of experience building software in Python, C++ or Java with attention to maintainability, reliability, security, and scalability.

  • Ability to build and administer extraordinary systems, services, or tools with a customer focus.

  • History of designing and coding large-scale PaaS or IaaS systems.

  • Worked with CI/CD delivery systems and services in a hybrid cloud environment.

  • Fluent with AWS Services: EC2, Lambda, RDS, Route53, AWS Systems Manager, and S3.

  • Understanding of RDS and database deployments

  • Self-directed and resourceful; self-starter who acts with initiative and is pro-active.
