The Library Facilities Manager works closely with the Associate Director of the Gotlieb Center, Libraries’ leadership, and the Campus Planning and Operations area manager to ensure that library spaces meet or exceed expectations for safety, cleanliness, organization, and efficiency for two primary constituencies: the users whose experiences should be defined by excellence and superlative services and the staff, who should be provided with the best possible environment in which to provide those services.
This position is based at Mugar Memorial Library, the Libraries’ main branch, but responds to requests and concerns and works with staff and leadership at all Libraries’ branches, comprising over 300,000 square feet of space. The types of spaces in the purview of the position include but are not limited to patron individual and group study spaces; staff workspaces; meeting and instruction spaces; collection storage including those open to the public (e.g., open stacks); and high security distinctive collections storage.
The position acts as the first responder to emergent situations, environmental and facilities disruptions, and time-sensitive issues at all locations and branches. The position also collaborates with the Associate Director of the Gotlieb Center to proactively review library spaces to identify and document legacy facilities issues and current circumstances, with an eye toward short-, medium- and longer-term solutions and improvements.
Bachelor's degree required.
3-5 years of relevant experience.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the demonstrated ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
Strong project management skills and experience.
Valid driver's license.
