Job Description:

Life Safety responsibilities (80%)

Provides a safe and secure work environment through strong partnerships, timely response, education and innovative solutions. Primarily responsible for the administration and adherence of the life safety program for an assigned region. Researches, analyzes, and develops emergency preparedness procedures for the assigned Bank of America facilities located in the assigned area of responsibility. Primary Life Safety Owner for OSHA Compliance and CPR/AED program in their region. Responsible for all emergency response and preparedness activities, including development and implementation of corporate wide programs within their region. Assesses natural, technological, and human hazards and threats in assigned region and facilities. Coordinates and assists lines of business and employees in emergency response planning and in identifying human and material resource needs. Coordinates plans for resource mobilization during an emergency. Plans, implements, and coordinates the development and readiness of the assigned Bank of America region and facilities in collaboration with Business Continuity, the bank’s facility partners, building management and facility security officers.

Protective Services responsibilities (20%)

Responsible for the protection of all corporate assets to include employees, customers, premises, property and brand for a dedicated area or region. Participates in investigations of physical security incidents and other incidents as directed, providing timely documentation. Functions as team lead during security-related incidents and when designated as the duty officer; is responsible for ensuring the company’s 24/7 command hub is kept up to date as incidents/events unfold. Directs major projects, or segments of complex functions. Administers the security program which includes all employees and all business units, providing education, awareness, implementation, and incident response for their perspective area of responsibility. Defines physical security system standards, policies, required upgrades, maintenance and day-to-day supervision of all security systems through system integrators or internal resources. Must help ensure compliance with the Federal Bank Protection Act and other applicable federal, state and local regulations, laws and ordinances. Provides fiscal planning and oversight for security services within client business units and within the corporate security team. Develops and maintains effective, active working relationships with primary clients, strategic business partners and team members and actively fosters an environment of teamwork. Meets all objectives of the corporate security program and addresses any unplanned events.


  • Bachelor’s degree required – or equivalent years of life safety, law enforcement, corporate security experiences

  • Must have prior life safety, law enforcement, corporate security/investigations experiences

  • Demonstrate extensive experience in managing proactive life safety programs and general safety concepts, including chemical, biological, fire and life safety

  • Must have knowledge of OSHA compliance regulations

  • Proven ability to develop effective relationships across divisional lines and to work with all levels of the company, including senior management

  • Strong critical thinking skills and ability to make effective decisions during critical events

  • Excellent leadership, communication (written and oral), presentation and interpersonal skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (e.g. Word, Excel, Visio and PowerPoint)

  • Goal and task center – Strong organization skills

  • Must be able to travel as necessary (10-20%)

  • Must be able to respond to critical situations 24/7

  • Master’s degree preferred and/or Professional Certifications in Life Safety areas
