Local Bar. Global Kitchen. Neighborhood Charm. LUC!E Drink + Dine is a brand new, locally owned and operated restaurant located in the heart of Boston's Back Bay neighborhood next to the legendary Colonnade Hotel. Opening soon, you have the unique opportunity to be a key figure on the opening crew of this amazing new place. We are now seeking a highly qualified Restaurant General Manager to join our team of lively, experienced restaurant professionals. This position will be instrumental in contributing to our fresh, high-quality cuisine and comfortable, upscale restaurant environment. To coordinate the activities of the restaurant, room service, lounge and pool in a successful path of financials, staffing, training, updated HR topics, being point for PR and Marketing and to work in a fully cohesive manner with fellow hotel department heads. Some things to know about this position:  * Interview, select, train, supervise, counsel and discipline staff for the efficient operation of the outlets.  Institute on going training programs to ensure that the highest quality service standards are being obtained. Organize and conduct pre-shift and departmental meetings communicating pertinent information to the staff, such as house count and menu changes.  Schedule and direct staff in their work assignments. * Interact positively with guests promoting hotel facilities and services.  Resolve problems to the satisfaction of involved parties.  Answer telephones in a clear voice, coordinate and document reservations.  Organize special events in the restaurant. Maintain rapport with all departments and attend relevant meetings. * Move throughout facility and kitchen areas visually monitor and take action to ensure food quality and service standards are met.  Verify temperatures, judge appearance and taste of products and check preparation methods to determine quality.  Give guidance towards improvements and make necessary adjustments for consistency. * Maintain profitability of outlet to support overall hotel operation.  Control payroll and equipment costs (minimizing loss and misuse).  Ensure par stock levels are maintained by calculating inventory, ordering and retrieving supplies and stocking shelves by stooping, bending, lifting heavy articles and reaching overhead.  Evaluate cost effectiveness of all aspects of operation.  Develop and implement cost saving and profit enhancing measures. * Utilize computer to accurately charge customers, create forecast and revenue reports and write correspondence.  Input and retrieve data and change computer procedures using complex series of key- punches to program system. Skills, Abilities and Experience needed to be successful * 5 years previous Food & Beverage and management experience. * Proven track record in training and developing staff in service delivery. * Excellent wine knowledge. * Working knowledge of style service. * Thorough knowledge of Food and Beverage outlet operations including foods, beverages, supervisory aspects, service techniques, and guest interaction. * Considerable skill in math and algebraic equations using percentages. * Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing, with guests and employees, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact, and diplomacy to defuse anger and to collect accurate information and to resolve problems. * Ability to work under pressure and deal with stressful situations during busy periods. Physical Requirements:  Ability to stand for long periods of time and move frequently from area to area. Ability to bend, stoop, crouch, reach with hands and arms. Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Must be able to stand or walk for an extended period or for an entire work shift in indoor/outdoor environments.   Must be a self-starter with a great personality and strong skills.
