Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program Maintenance Mechanic III in Boston, Massachusetts
The Maintenance Tech III is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance for Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program’s buildings and grounds. Responsibilities include managing work orders, identifying and executing building repairs, and responding to general maintenance issues and emergencies in a timely manner. The ideal candidate will have a positive attitude, hands-on experience, and be able to work independently and as part of a team. This position reports to the Director of Facilities.
Hours: Part-Time, 24 hours per week, Saturday - Monday, 8 - 430pm or 7 - 3:30pm

Primary Duties:
Resolve work order requests and perform mechanical inspections daily
Provide preventative and corrective maintenance throughout the properties
Inspect building and/or grounds as necessary
Replace light bulbs, electrical fixtures, plumbing fixtures, filters, ceiling tiles, door hardware, locks, and make keys. Perform wall repair, flooring repair, and painting
Wear necessary safety attire and/or use appropriate equipment
Respond to on-call emergencies after hours, evenings and weekends, and mandatory snow removal
Work with contractors as necessary
Schedule annual fire drills
Meet requests of remote BHCHP locations
Oversee Routine Preventative Maintenance Schedule
Performs other duties as required or assigned
Qualifications:
Perform other duties as required or assigned
High school diploma or relevant technical school certification preferred
Knowledge of OSHA and facilities maintenance in a healthcare setting preferred
5-10 years of experience in some or all of the following areas: basic plumbing, basic electrical, general carpentry, tiling, locks, painting, grounds keeping, cleaning/janitorial.
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required
Basic computer skills
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed oral or written instructions independently.
Must be self-motivated; enjoy working with a diverse population
Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
Must be able to work alone as well as in a team environment
Must wear appropriate uniform at all times
Able to lift 20-25 pounds on a regular basis, and up to 75 pounds occasionally
Able to climb and descend stairs, bend and stoop, and sit and stand for long periods of time
Benefits:
Compensation starts at $19.71 per hour and increases with years of experience.
