Anixter Manager - Transportation in Boston, Massachusetts
We are seeking a Transportation Manager. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing specific modes of transport, including LTL, small package, fleet, etc. for corporate transportation programs in specific country or countries. You will also be responsible for negotiating contracts, setting strategy, and guiding commercial transportation relationships.
Assists in developing country-specific strategies and executing operational plans to achieve results, and ensures alignment with goals and objectives.
Sets goals for work group, manages execution, and measures results.
Selects, manages, evaluates, and develops staff. Challenge employees, including building effective teams, developing organizational capacity, providing staff with coaching, feedback, and developmental opportunities.
Develops, negotiates, and manages mode-specific transportation contracts, relationships, and carrier programs, including LTL, dedicated, and courier, etc.
Manages mode and carrier selection, carrier relationships, metrics,and performance.
Manages inbound freight consolidation and back-haul programs.
Manages internal fleet programs, including truck and car leases, maintenance, fuel service, and driver reimbursements.
Manages freight bill payment, including pre and post audit.
Manages mode-specific regulatory and compliance requirements, including DOT, Hazmat, and OSHA
Streamlines supply chain to maximize service levels, profitability, and speed to customer.
Supports LEAN transportation initiatives to drive expense reduction, freight recovery, process improvement, and delivery performance.
Keeps abreast of government regulatory agencies (DOT, FAA, OSHA) and rulings.
Bachelors’ Degree or related required
5 years required of transportation supervision in retail, wholesale, or direct fulfillment.
Business and management principles, including strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership techniques, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
Principles and processes for providing customer and personal services, including customer needs assessment, service quality standards, and evaluating customer satisfaction
Receiving, distribution center, material handling operations, procedures, and challenges.
Special handling and shipping processes.
Technical competence in logistics and transportation.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Strong interpersonal and motivational skills.
Strong computer skills.
