The opportunity:

Are you passionate about marketing and driving profitable growth for our B2B audience(s) via strategic life insurance campaigns? Do you want an opportunity to make a solid and immediate impact linked to our business results and better customer outcomes? If so, the Market Engagement Manager role may be the right fit for you. In this role, you will build relationships with our internal and external partners and optimize investment decisions to drive ROI and sales, while also leveraging new technologies such as Gen AI to improve business outcomes and enhance customer engagement.

As a Market Engagement Manager, it is critical to have a comprehensive understanding of life insurance and other financial products within the industry. Your primary focus will be developing and executing innovative marketing strategies to boost market awareness and drive sales for our business unit. This role also involves managing new campaigns and 'evergreen' marketing initiatives across digital and traditional platforms and collaborating with various teams to ensure efficient campaign strategy execution for US Insurance.

The Insurance Marketing Team, of which the Market Engagement Manager is a key part, is responsible for the strategy and execution of product launches, B2B relationships, sales enablement, Vitality member engagement, and producer and policyholder communications. This team is an integral part of our comprehensive marketing organization, which includes brand, human-centered design, digital, analytics, and integrated production. Together, these teams collaborate closely to craft our marketing narrative, deliver connected customer experiences, and demonstrate the business value of marketing.

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop, execute, and measure strategic marketing programs to support John Hancock Insurance products, services and partners

  • Write and present integrated marketing plans for a senior-level management team

  • Plan, execute, and optimize campaigns, including digital, media, and social channels to promote life insurance products

  • Strategically leverage various types of media to drive marketing campaigns, including targeted email marketing, A/B testing, social media, digital advertising, and website experiences

  • Leverage Gen AI to create personalized content and develop data-driven strategies for specific customer segments

  • Develop compelling marketing content, including brochures, presentations, web content and social media posts, ensuring a consistent message and alignment with brand standards

  • Utilize insights from market research and analysis to identify trends, customer needs, and the competitive landscape to inform marketing strategies

  • Measure and analyze the effectiveness of marketing campaigns, providing insights and recommendations for improvement, and adjusting strategies as needed to optimize results

  • Ensure all marketing activities and materials comply with legal and compliance requirements

  • Develop and maintain relationships across all John Hancock Insurance departments, including sales, product, legal, compliance, and, where applicable, external producers, firms, and distributors, as well as the larger John Hancock/Manulife organization

Candidate:

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in campaign management in the life insurance and financial services space, and will be passionate about bringing excitement to these experiences.

The experience and skills needed include:

  • Minimum of bachelor's degree in Marketing, sales, or related field of study, MBA a plus

  • 7-10 years of experience in a marketing manager or account management role with at least 5 years of experience in life insurance products; annuities experience is a plus.

  • Proven track record of developing and executing successful marketing strategies and campaigns

  • Strong understanding of life insurance and other financial products, market dynamics, and regulatory requirements

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills

  • Proficient in digital marketing, email marketing, and social media

  • Knowledge using Generative AI tools to drive business growth and innovation

  • Experience with marketing automation tools and CRM systems (SalesForce)

  • Ability to work independently and collaborate within a team environment, often facing conflicting and overlapping demands

  • Excellent project management, communication, presentation, and writing skills

  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships at all levels of the organization

  • Analytical and data-driven, leveraging the expertise of the analytics team to assess and optimize past results to inform future decisions

  • Comfortable using and learning new technologies and naturally curious and creative – eagerness to test and learn and possess an owner mindset

Salary & Benefits

The annual base salary for this role is listed below.

Salary range is expected to be between

$86,325.00 USD - $155,385.00 USD

The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training. Employees also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn incentive compensation tied to business and individual performance.
