Partnership Retirement and Benefits, Assistant Director
The Partnership Retirement Assistant Director has a key oversight role in the administration of the retired partner payroll process, as well as the partner separation process. With regard to payroll, retired partners receive monthly pension payments which are processed though the Partnership Operations Retirement Department and paid to retirees on the 15th of each month via direct deposit or physical check (in some cases). The separations process entails the creation of financial separation packages, which summarizes retiring partners or separating partners financial interests at EY. In this role you will be responsible for the administration of the partner separation process, and for timely processing of all retirement plan payments and for compliance with all legal regulations.
The opportunity
The Partnership Retirement Assistant Director may supervise the department staff who administer and process all partners exiting the Firm and retirement payroll. As part of this role, you will act as the team’s liaison with various internal and external vendors and clients. You will also be a point of contact for retired partner matter resolutions, while providing exceptional client service to active and retired partners.
Your key responsibilities
Assists in the design, evaluation and modification of department processes and procedures to make certain that they are current and comprehensive. Proposes changes to management.
Mediates between benefits providers and retired partners. This may include but is not limited to handling retired partner benefits-related and retirement related questions or taking suggestions.
Maintains an awareness of partner retirement plans for tax compliance. Responsible for accurate production and distribution of retired partner tax documents. Works with internal providers to ensure systems are updated to reflect any changes. Proposes changes to management.
Assists in the compliance and audit inquiry responses for partner tax-qualified plans, working with internal clients and external auditors to provide required information and answer any questions. Responsible for prompt and accurate compliance.
Provides comparative benefit analysis of EY partner retirement plans to competitor retirement plans for executive management review.
Prepares and/or approves communication materials for retirement benefits to create an understanding and awareness of plans.
Manages provider relationships.
Develops system specifications for automated system enhancements and changes.
To qualify for the role, you must have
Approximately 8-10 years of related experience
BA degree in related discipline or equivalent work experience
Very good customer service skills
Strong interpersonal, communication, analytical and organizational skills
PC proficiency
Broad knowledge of benefit plans
Excellent decision-making skills
Ideally, you’ll also have
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applications

What we offer
We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business. The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $100,000 to $204,000. The salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $125,000 to $212,500. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options. Our expectation is for most people in external, client serving roles to work together in person 40-60% of the time over the course of an engagement, project or year.
