Summary This position is located in DHS/U.S. Coast Guard, Director of Operational Logistics, Base Boston, Naval Engineering Support Unit, Industrial Production Facility Boston, Boston, MA. Responsibilities This role involves constructing and repairing fiberglass, and plywood hulls of small craft and vessels.Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: * Conducting inspection of and troubleshooting various new and existing piping systems, identifying irregularities and existing and/or potential problems.* Identifying the source and nature of system malfunctions using accepted diagnostic techniques.* Assembling, installing and repairing pipes, fittings and fixtures of steam hearing, water, and sanitary and storm drainage systems and low pressure air according to specifications and plumbing codes.* Using a wide variety of equipment and tools of the trade such as power hacksaws, power band saws, hydraulic pipe benders, grinding and drilling machines, pipe threading machines, test pumps.Cleaning and pickling piping and components with acids and solvents using standard procedures. Performing a variety of routine pipefitting tasks such as fabrication, installation, modification, repairing and testing of piping and tubing made from iron, steel, brass, monel, copper, copper-nickel, stainless steel, and plastic, and also a wide variety of low, medium and high pressure hoses.* Testing systems and equipment for proper operation, circulation, flow, pressure and leak-free joints. Requirements Conditions of Employment U.S. Citizenship is required. The position requires a valid state driver's license. Applicant is required to meet the physical requirements of the position.
