State of Massachusetts Policy and Special Projects Coordinator-Contractor in Boston, Massachusetts

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health’s (MDPH) Bureau of Substance Addiction (BSAS) seeks dynamic applicants for the Policy and Special Projects Coordinator role. Under the general direction of the Director of Policy, the Policy and Special Projects Coordinator will support policy and program development projects that aim to improve access to and quality of substance use-related services, making a significant impact on the community. The coordinator role will assist our Policy Director with several projects over the next fiscal year to assist with Bureau-wide planning on regulatory, budgetary, and legislative priorities. This includes producing work plans, power mapping, and policy memos to guide strategic decision-making on high-profile issues. This ongoing effort is crucial to aligning BSAS' mission and values with their work, but it requires additional, temporary resourcing to coordinate across the bureau and improve messaging. This position is a full-time position of 37.5 hours per week over the next one to two years. The Policy and Special Projects Coordinator will primarily be responsible for the following job duties and responsibilities: _Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and are not all inclusive):_ * Coordinating responses to inquiries and requests for information from internal and external stakeholders. * Contribute to developing ongoing policy priorities and track progress toward accomplishments of policy priorities. * Develop and coordinate project work plans and timelines. * Implement standards to be used in program monitoring/evaluation. * Draft presentations, policy recommendations, issue briefs, and reports as requested. * Present findings and policy / programmatic recommendations orally and in writing. * Monitor changing federal, national, and state policy changes to inform and support bureau-wide planning and strategy. * Analyze the impact of legislative, regulatory, and policy changes/proposals to assess the effects, make policy recommendations based on findings, and coordinate implementation of recommendations. _Qualifications:_ * Enhanced knowledge of substance addiction treatment services in Massachusetts and understanding of the policies and funding mechanisms of Massachusetts’ substance addiction programming. * In-depth knowledge of State and Federal contracts, regulations and laws governing Substance Addiction Services and their fiscal management. * Understanding of Electronic Invoice Management/Electronic Service Management information system. // /_Contract Period of Service:_/ 9/1/24 – 8/31/25 // /_Additional Contract Information:_/ * Benefits are unavailable with the exception of sick leave accruals. * Contracts are renewable, subject to the Department approval, performance, and allocation of funds. * All employees will be paid on a biweekly basis and must have direct deposit. _About the Bureau of Substance Addiction Services:_ The Mission of the Bureau of Substance Addiction Services (BSAS) is to foster healthy life choices through culturally responsive services that prevent, treat, and promote recovery from substance-related disorders.
