We are looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer with a proven track record of designing battery pack electronics (e.g. 1S and multi-S, battery monitoring and protection, charging circuits, fuel gauging, etc.) to join our growing team.

As part of the Sonos Advanced Technology team you will be responsible for researching and designing various battery charging topologies for existing and future battery technologies and developing unique battery packs in combination with advanced battery management systems (BMS) to enhance consumer experience of Sonos’ next generation devices. Challenges include:

What You’ll Do

  • Research battery charging topologies and technologies.

  • Evaluate, design and test battery packs under the scope of Sonos’ products.

  • Develop a holistic battery driven power delivery system with the focus on efficiency, safety, thermal management, level of integration, reliability and cost.

  • Lead and perform schematic, circuit and PCB designs for proof of concept and conduct performance tests under various environmental and usage conditions.

  • Develop battery pack and BMS requirement documents, including specifications, performance requirements, form factor dependencies, test and validation plans.

  • Create and maintain a trend report on battery pack and charging technologies.

What You’ll Need

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering, MS in Electrical Engineering is a plus

  • At least 4+ years of engineering experience related to power electronics

  • Schematic/PCB design and electrical debugging experience

  • Ability to organize failure analysis, lead technical discussions, and communicate effectively in a team setting.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in analog and mixed circuit design,, including protection circuits, ADCs, DACs, signal conditioning, thermal management and low power microcontrollers

  • Experience with BMS and fuel gauging

  • Embedded Firmware programming skills

  • Experience in creating specifications and requirement documents

    We consider a wide range of factors when determining compensation, which may cause compensation to vary depending on your skills, experience and qualifications. This job is also eligible for discretionary bonuses as well as an opportunity to become a Sonos shareholder because all full time employees are eligible for stock grants. The minimum base pay may be modified in the future based on changing market conditions. The starting minimum base pay for this role is:

$142,000
