The Tableau Demo Team Solutions Engineer will be working within the Tableau Analytics Americas pre-sales team, responsible for developing, curating and supporting Tableau pre-sales demonstration assets, infrastructure, techniques and skills to support the 300 engineers on that team. This ecosystem plays a critical part in Tableau’s sales success, and is a constantly evolving environment.

Employees in this role need to be comfortable rolling up their sleeves with technical work you're doing, as well as with delivering live demos and demo education to internal, partner, or customer audiences. The candidate should be passionate about demos! Our goal is for the Tableau pre-sales consultants to have the finest demos in the industry at-the-ready with minimal administrative overhead.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Demo system support (50%): maintaining demo servers and SaaS sites, improving their uptime, crafting and executing strategies for upgrades, user management, integration and security

  • Tableau Technical Content development (20%): building demonstration assets using Tableau software

  • Industry content development (15%): building demonstration stories for specific industries, targeting their buying agendas and business requirements

  • Demo strategy development (5%): working as part of a team to craft the vision for Tableau demo systems, content and skills

  • Near-neighbor content development (5%): building and integrating demo assets using Salesforce and other near-neighbor technologies

  • Data curation (5%): finding, fabricating, cleansing, and structuring data to tell stories that sell software

  • Revenue: never losing sight of the end goal of empowering the corporation to use this demo content to drive customer revenue

Secondary Responsibilities:

  • Skill development: working with presales consultants face-to-face to drive better demo delivery expertise

  • Collaboration: working alongside colleagues from across Tableau, Salesforce, and customer and partner organizations

  • Marketing support

  • External tech conference and analyst relations support

  • Internal conference support (TC, Dreamforce and others)

  • Recruitment

Knowledge and skill requirements:

  • AWS/EC2

  • Passion for high-quality work, including not just technical constructs but written documentation and videos.

  • Tableau Desktop, Server, and Prep skills, as well as other Tableau tools: CMT, Catalog, Conductor, Bridge, etc.

  • Coding skills are a plus: Python, Java, JavaScript, Apex and SQL would all be highly beneficial

  • Ability to be assigned multiple concurrent work and execute them to completion

  • Data storytelling

  • Near-neighbor technologies: relational database, SAML, Salesforce, among others

  • Server administration

Education/Experience:

  • Prior pre-sales experience

  • Prior experience delivering high-stakes demos

  • Strong work ethic

  • Effectively gives and receives feedback

  • Uses good judgment and tact
