Oracle Product Manager/Strategy 4-ProdDev in Boston, Massachusetts

Job Description

Lead a team that acts as the central resource and driving force for the design, process, manufacturing, test, quality and marketing of product(s) as they move from conception to distribution. Organize interdepartmental activities ensuring completion of the project/product on schedule and within budget.

As a member of the product development division, you will analyze and integrate external customer specifications. Suggest and justify product directions and specifications. Specify, design and implement moderate changes to existing software architecture. Build new products and development tools. Build and execute unit tests and unit test plans. Review integration and regression test plans created by QA. Communicate with QA and porting engineering to discuss major changes to functionality.

Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 7 years of software engineering or related experience.

Our Team:

The development group in the Construction & Engineering Global Business Unit is focused on developing enterprise level solutions for our customers in project intensive industries. Our applications provide project and portfolio management, contract management, resource management, and risk management solutions used by customers worldwide. We leverage an agile development methodology (scrum) to facilitate the development of our products. Our development practices include empowered scrum teams, continuous build and integration, monthly sprint reviews, and a heavy emphasis on testing early and often.

Responsibilities include:

Drive key features/functions for our applications.

Gather inputs from external and internal customers, validate and prioritize development plans, and write necessary documents to guide development.

Breakdown requirements into Stories and tasks and create release roadmaps which are in line with strategy.

Work closely with Development and Documentation teams during the development process, ensure that the service functionality being built is consistent with customer expectations and that it also helps establish significant market leadership for Oracle compared to competing services.

Maintain deep relationships with key customers - as the Development advocate/sponsor for these customers, ensure their continued success with Oracle's services, and in turn cultivate the relationships to develop highly effective marketing references.

Work with customers directly, Support, Sales and Consulting teams to understand customer usage patterns to fine-tune the service roadmap.

Plan and execute service announcements and co-ordinate beta testing


5+ years of product management experience with overall 10 years of IT experience BS / MS in Computer Science or other technical background

Excellent written and communication/presentation skills

High-level understanding of engineering architecture

Experience working with engineering teams to deliver products or services Analytical skills, with a passion to solve complex technology and business problems and an aptitude to learn new things

Ability to dig into the details while always keeping in mind the bigger picture

Excellent teamwork, leadership and people management skills

A can-do attitude, with a focus on deliverables and deadlines
