Reports to: Reports to Assistant Director for ABA - Office of Special Education
Position Summary: The Program Director for Transportation will train our SPED Cab monitors to effectively support students with disabilities, with a focus on disability awareness, positive behavior supports and strategies, use of sensory tools and resources, and how to identify and work through student behavioral challenges. They will also provide ongoing professional development in the area of positive behavior support to monitors and Monitor Unit Staff. The Program Director for Transportation will also offer techniques and modeling of behavior intervention support to promote a safe environment on buses. This person must have expertise in the area of data collection, disability acceptance/awareness, and staff training.
Responsibilities:
Develop and implement Tier 1 proactive, positive behavior supports and strategies
Train/ Coach SPED Cab Monitors on individualized positive behavior plans (when consent has been obtained).
Work with school staff, and in some cases, parents, to develop positive support plans for students
Ongoing training and supervision of SPED Cab Monitors in partnership with Monitors Unit management to implement supportive student centered practices.
Create an ongoing data collection system to establish a baseline and programmatic efficacy for all students and to analyze data on a frequent and ongoing basis to guide programming.
Develop positive support plans for all students with a focus on teaching safe riding skills and other antecedent strategies.
Meet as needed with SPED Cab monitors, school staff, and families to discuss ongoing student issues and to provide support when necessary.
Travel to school sites as required for observations, functional behavioral assessments, and positive behavior support plans for individual students
Shared supervision of SPED Cab Monitors
Support and advise on investigatory meetings into alleged monitor misconduct
Analyze individual student and overall program data to make data-based modifications to programming and training
Utilize data collected to assess the effectiveness of overall program implementation
Participate in training and planning meetings with the Special Education team as directed
The Program Director for Transportation will be expected to ride the bus as needed to directly observe, support, and model in the moment.
Work closely with the Assistant Director of the Monitors Unit and other Monitor Unit Management staff to implement trainings
Qualifications Required :
Master’s Degree in Special Education or a related field
Successful completion of internship and/or formal training in instructional strategies and training related to working with students or other clients disabilities, their parents, and other agencies working with a client
Ability to demonstrate competence in positive behavior interventions and supports, instructional skills, oral and written communication, organizational skills, and interpersonal relations
Ability to work with a variety of students with special needs with minimal direction
Current on all required training/certifications
Knowledge of discrete trial training programming and implementation
Excel and Google Suite
Must be able to work a flexible schedule
Must have a valid driver's license
Preferred Qualifications:
Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)
Fluent in Haitian Creole
At least two (2) years of experience developing and supervising Positive Behavior Support programs
Experience in the development of Positive Support Plans and Individualized Curriculum Plans
Experience in Transportation and Safety Management
Experience in Organizational Behavior Management
