Program Leader - Patient/Family Engagement

Department Description:Part Time with Benefits!

The Patient/Family Engagement program is a program within the Social Work Department that serves the entire BIDMC community. Working along with the Senior Director of SW and Patient/Family Engagement, this person will be responsible for the daily operations of the program. Will represent the program at meetings both within BIDMC and in the community.

Job Summary:The Program Leader for Patient/Family Engagement is responsible for the development and implementation of hospital-wide Patient/Family Advisor activities across the Medical Center

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Recruits, interviews, and places patient/family advisors on multiple advisory councils, hospital committees and in project specific focus groups

  • Maintains ongoing contact with advisors and staff mentors, working with advisors to make sure that they have the training and information to work constructively with one another

  • Prepares annual report detailing patient/family engagement. With the Sr Director of Social Work and Patient/Family Engagement, presents written and verbal reports to Sr Leadership, the Board of Trustees and community groups regarding patient/family engagement activities at the Medical Center. Develops and implements outcome monitoring plan and mechanism for tracking accomplishments

  • Provides administrative support to multiple Patient/Family Advisory councils; prepares agendas, takes minutes, manages communication between advisors and hospital staff; maintains project webpage

  • Performs needs assessments with groups looking to utilize patient/family advisors to determine best format and structure to engage patient family advisors. Paitent/Family engagement activities include several Advisory Councils; hospital committees, in person and virtual focus groups. Facilitation of project specific focus groups

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Social Work,Healthcare Administration, Public Health required.

  • License Lic Indep Clinical Social Work preferred.

  • 3-5 years related work experience required.

  • Experience in program development/project leadership.

  • Meeting facilitation

  • Knowledge of outcomes measurement

  • Advanced skills with Microsoft applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access and other web-based applications. May produce complex documents, perform analysis and maintain databases.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Social Work with a macro concentration or MSW/MPH

  • Team Work:Ability to lead collaborative teams for larger projects or groups both internal and external to the Medical Center and across functional areas. Results have implications for the management and operations of multiple areas of the organization.

  • Customer Service:Ability to provide a high level of customer service and staff training to meet customer service standards and expectations for the assigned unit(s). Resolves service issues in the assigned unit(s) in a timely and respectful manner.

Physical Nature of the Job:

Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently to move objects. Some elements of the job are sedentary, but the employee will be required to stand for periods of time or move through out the hospital campus
