This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Project Director (Apparel - Sustainability, Energy and Climate Change) for our San Francisco, CA office. The following locations will also be considered: San Diego, CA; Boulder, CO; Boston, MA; New York, NY; Portland, OR; Arlington, VA; or other WSP USA office locations. Be involved in projects with our Climate Resiliency and Sustainability Team, and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.

The successful candidate will support a client–facing team in the design, management, and reporting of organizational sustainability programs. The ideal candidate will have the flexibility and capacity to work on a wide variety of projects and the demonstrated ability to work well with cross-functional teams. Candidates should be passionate about sustainability, self-motivated and self-directed, collaborative, and able to produce high-quality work products.

Specific experience in apparel and retail sectors is required, particularly expertise in sustainable materials and products, supplier engagement, renewable energy procurement, supply chain GHG emissions quantification including interaction with Higg product and facility tools and/or public reporting via CDP Climate Change, RE100, the UN Fashion Charter, and others.

Your Impact

  • Developing and managing sustainability programs in addition to related strategies and policies.

  • Assessing and managing sustainability-related risk and opportunity across the value chain.

  • Producing sustainability communications aligned with leading frameworks (e.g., CDP, GRI, RE100, UN Fashion Charter.)

  • Designing sustainability performance targets and accompanying strategies and achievement plan.

  • Managing value chain and product life cycle inventories for energy, GHG, water, waste, and other resources.

  • Identifying and evaluating opportunities to achieve energy, GHG, and resource reductions across the value chain.

  • Managing multiple projects concurrently; coordinating delivery of services from multiple team members.

  • Leading business development activities with existing and prospective clients in apparel and other sectors. Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environment/Sustainability, Business, Energy, Engineering, Public Policy or a related discipline.

  • 7 - 10 years of professional experience in sustainability and/or management consulting.

  • Experience in apparel sustainability either from the brand or consulting perspective.

  • Expertise with sustainable materials and products, supplier engagement, and supply chain GHG emissions quantification including interaction with Higg product and facility tools.

  • Experience with sustainability frameworks including CDP, DJSI, GRI, the GHG Protocol, RE100, the UN Fashion Charter, etc.

  • Well-developed interpersonal skills, maturity, credibility, confidence, and integrity.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability to communicate results and craft compelling presentations and reports via Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, and related software.

  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects concurrently, and manage time efficiently.

  • Ability to collaborate remotely across geographies and platforms.

  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree.

  • Familiarity with renewable energy procurement, particularly in the supply chain.

  • Ability to develop and present analyses using programs including Microsoft Excel, Access, and Power BI.

WSP provides a comprehensive suite of benefits including medical, dental, vision, disability, life, and retirement savings focused on a providing health and financial stability throughout the employee’s career.

Expected Salary (Colorado): $76,400 - $155,900
