Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field

  • 6 years Project management, business analysis, process improvement, or operations management

  • Ability to synthesize and analyze information, develop actionable plans, and prepare reports to assist in making project management and project delivery-related decisions and risk assessments

  • Strong communication skills – both orally and through work products – to successfully consult, collaborate, and inspire confidence and trust with the group practice teams, firm senior partners, lawyer-leaders, and practice clients

  • Ability to partner with cross-functional teams in a highly matrixed and global environment

  • Familiarity with legal processes, regulations, and industry trends, with a passion for driving innovation and transforming legal practice through technology

  • Outstanding organizational skills

  • Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize multiple high-level priorities in a fast-paced changing environment to a successful conclusion promptly

  • Ability to work well as part of a team, potentially large and/or global

  • Highly organized, efficient self-starter

  • Experience managing workflows and deliverables across clients

  • Client-facing polish for coordinating meetings/scheduling; professional with strong interpersonal skills

  • Highly responsive and detail-oriented

Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience managing relationships and operations within a law firm or other professional services organization

  • Process improvement certifications (Six Sigma, Lean, etc.) and/or change management or consulting experience

  • Proficiency in MS Office suite applications (i.e., M365, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint Teams)

What will your day look like?

As a Project Manager I, you will lead end-to-end project management efforts for AI Governance team-focused initiatives, from initial scoping and requirements gathering to project execution, monitoring, and closure. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including lawyers, technologists, and clients, to gather project requirements, establish project goals, and define deliverables. You will develop comprehensive project plans, including timelines, resource allocation, and budgets, ensuring adherence to deadlines and client expectations.

Furthermore, you will identify potential risks and issues related to project implementation, develop mitigation strategies, and communicate effectively with stakeholders to proactively address challenges. You will facilitate effective communication channels among project teams, ensuring that all stakeholders are informed of project progress, changes, and key decisions. You will establish and implement quality control measures to ensure the accuracy and reliability of AI-driven legal solutions and technologies. You will also coordinate change management efforts, including training and support, to facilitate the adoption and integration of AI technologies within the legal practice.

Additionally, you will identify opportunities for process improvements, efficiency gains, and technology enhancements to drive innovation within the AI Governance team. You will contribute to the development of best practices, knowledge-sharing initiatives, and thought leadership content related to AI and legal technology in collaboration with the broader DLA Piper community.

Physical Demands, Work Environment, and Other Requirements

Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.

The expected annual pay range for this position, if hired to work in San Fransico or Palo Alto is $118,573 - $176,383 per year. If hired to work in Los Angeles, San Diego, or Seattle the expected annual pay range is $108,692 - $161,684 per year. If hired to work in New York the expected annual pay range is $113,632 - $169,033 per year. The compensation offered to a candidate selected for employment will be dependent upon various factors, including the candidate’s geographic market, skills, educational and professional background, experience, and overall qualifications. We offer a comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance, and 401(k).
